What do you think of having a separate well where the user can retrieve water the old way with a hand pump?

Right now my electric pump brings water up from 230 feet. Would that be too far for a hand pump to retrieve water from?

I remember my grandparents had one of those hand pump wells. They lived in Gallatin Gateway, Montana which is right outside the Gallatin Canyon that heads to Lone Mountain and West Yellowstone.

However, their well was barely 30 feet deep.

Your own well. Let's see what a survior of the Bosina war says:

From a Sarajevo War Survivor:

"Living near a well with a manual pump is like being in Eden."

There are handpumps that go that deep, but I think you would wear yourself out just getting 10 gallons of water. How about a solar set up and a cistern or a holding tank of some kind.
