MILLBURN Howard Grossmans 30-year career as a doctor began as a resident at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn at the dawn of the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s.
It took him to the hallowed halls of the U.S. Supreme Court as one of the lead plaintiffs in a physician-assisted suicide case in the 1990s. He even landed in western Nepal for a few months in 2007 to help establish the first HIV treatment facility for migrant workers.
Now his winding career has led the West Orange native back home to New Jersey: In mid-June, Grossman, 59, opened what he and others believe is the first medical practice in the state marketed toward gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender patients.

[Thanks to Gefn for the story.]
The doctor has an appropriate last name.
True enough.
I wonder if the medical advice he’s giving includes “Stop [CENSORED] in the [CENSORED]!”

In any case, do you believe that the down low is a black phenomenon?
Oh, please! You’ve got farmers in the Midwest [on the down low]. There’s a great book on rural gay men that came out a couple of years ago that has all the stories of people in these farm towns, who meet for sex. They end up getting married and they have kids. So it’s a worldwide problem that needs to be addressed. [For one of many books on rural gay men,
It has a number of proctologists I pressume?
I know you were joking, but their stock in trade is probably infectious disease.
I believe they have all sorts of bizarre injuries and conditions from practicing their “love lives” so yeah, similar to the doctors that freak when they see a woman from a third world country who has been mutilated it is good if you had someone who knew what the issues are and didn’t freak out
Given that the guy is an internist, I suspect he’s working from an infectious disease perspective; e.g., AIDS, TB, STDs, etc.
First capitalism story that has a negative.
'Grossman advertises his practice, AlphaBetterCare, as an "Experienced Gay Physician"'
(No, really! The NJ.com newspaper article actually says that!)
Since we don’t really know what lies ahead in the age of ObamaCare, this guy might just be a visionary. I’m guessin that the LBGT sub specialties will be the winners in ObamaCare. Especially if you are LGBT of the illegal variety.
Their business model sucks.
And their customer service sucks...
opened what he and others believe is the first medical practice in the state marketed toward gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender patients.
HUH? Hold up a sec. Isn’t the clarion cry of the media and the left that these poeple are the same as everyone else? That their lifestyle actions etc are normal? Then why a special Doctor and a special place for them to go?
Careful; they’ll quote those as positive reviews.
Logic is a tool of heterosexualist oppression.
I’m also guessing he has a personal interest in the subject matter....
Going out on a limb here, but I’m guessing that he has reasons other than “Medical Treatment” for luring hundreds of gay men to his door.
They’re “just like everyone else” but need their own specialized medical clinic?
Calling captain obvious.
