What the military has done in Egypt is what the military in Turkey is Constitutionally supposed to do and has done twice in the past. Erdogan kept it slow and chipped away at the officer corps instead of trying to go full blast all at once as the Islamists and Communists did in the past, thus triggering the military in its Constitutional role as protector of the Republic.

Logically, since every member of our military is to protect and defend the Constitution, and the current administration is ignoring the Constitution to destroy its power, why isn’t anyone using the power of the Constitution to defend it?

The US military is focussed solely externally, at least until the Hopey Change is complete. The Turkish military has a different charter. Ataturk expected the professional military would keep an eye on the process and kick it back into the center of the designed road when it started going off the edge.
