Has the moment for immigration reform passed?
There's a school of thought growing within the GOP that argues the party doesn't need to win over Latino voters as badly as it needs to expand its popularity among white voters.
-snip-
Major Republican donors remain adamant in their desire to see Congress pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill. They see the demographic reality that the national electorate is becoming less white, and they're firm in the belief that the GOP needs to connect with a more diverse universe of voters.
Groups funded by such donors are preparing a concerted effort to persuade influential House Republicans to get on board with immigration reform. And they're also working to ensure Republicans who already support it get adequate political cover. Groups like the American Action Network, backed by GOP impresario Fred Malek, and Americans for a Conservative Direction are spending serious cash on TV ads defending Marco Rubio for his work on the Senate immigration bill.

The GOP needs to abandon no one. They need to shout the message of freedom and opportunity from the roof tops and dare the Dems to stop importing professional victim voters for their exploitation scheme. Here again the left is getting to set the agenda. Does anyone actually expect the existing “immigrants” to remain loyal to the Democrats once they start paying taxes to support more illegals who are imported to vote for a living? This is not the African American population, who’s crutch has always been that they were “involuntarily brought here” so they are owed a living. These current immigrants for the most part came to America to better themselves. Pandering politicians will be able to label them victims for just so long.
Did they succeed in making you go Galt? I may do that myself.
“yes. Anything otherwise would be racist. We didnt give up on them. THEY, the latinos, gave up on the GOP. Its not complicated really. They want freebies and the easy way to get citizenship, turning our country into the same sh*thole banana republic they went away from.”
Money quote in this thread! The “white” Spaniards that run Mexico are content to have the US take their troublesome “Indians” off their hands. After all, they didn’t invade what is now Mexico to create a nation for the “native population” there. I mean have you ever seen a Mexican Politician that didn’t look “White?”
There's precious little evidence that any Republican problems are from disgruntled conservatives staying home.
However, there are probably more productive groups for the Republicans to try to get more votes out of than Hispanics - low-income white males outside of the South, and particularly middle to upper middle class married suburban women outside of the South.
Most of what people suggest on FR would uselessly grind more votes out of Oklahoma and Alabama.
The stupid article writer hilariously thinks the GOP should try harder with amnesty and suck up to these ungrateful clowns.
Look you ass hat latinos, you will never, EVER vote GOP and quit this psych propaganda.
Republicans are the party of everyone else.
Democrats gave up on the 'right-to-life' vote - and they gave up on the white middle class NRA vote. Democrats were smart enough to know middle class NRA members was a waste of their time and money.
Going after the black and Hispanic vote is a waste of Republican's time and money too...

Going after the poor black and Hispanic vote is a waste of Republican's time and money too...( we have middle class Hispanics and some middle class blacks ) The poor and ignorant (black, white and hispanic) who always tend to support corrupt power can stay with Democrats. Look at South American dictators and the 'poor' who buy into their lies... it's how Castro came to power - lots of lies for fools...
what Latino voters???? they tend to vote dim any way
"Have the Democrats Abandoned Taxpaying US Citizens?"
I’m about ready to give up on the GOP if they can’t get over this kowtowing to special interest and leftist agendas. There are times when compromise is nothing but weak-mindedness and cowardliness. Writing convoluted policies that will have ruinous effects because the GOP lacks the backbone to demand enforcement of existing immigration laws is not giving up on Latino voters. It is telling them that we stand for the best interest of this country, their country, and also their best interest. Please Hispanics, come help us build a better America for all our children.
They'll need to build bunkers that can stand political MOABs. The base is pissed off and won't stand for being undercut again.
What Latino voters... the same 30 plus percent that have voted republican for decades or the 55 plus percent that always vote for socialist, big government handouts?

The talk is to “Blue Slip” the senate bill which thanks to TX Sen Ted Cruz has apppropriations in it which is the lower House’s job by constitution. I”m saying and I’m not alone on this is that that portion of the senate bill can be revised. If the House develops its own bill heavy on border security ,which never gets implemenmted , and gets sent to the senate. The whole thing goes into “conference” and the Demo-Coms screw US.
If the House doesn’t approve any type of bill and “Blue Slips” (rejects it for constitutional reasons) the senate bill and the whole issue goes nowhere. The talk is that decision is suppose to happen this week.
“compromise is nothing but weak-mindedness and cowardliness”
I heard G Gordon Liddy say about compromise:
“If you have a gallon of pure water, and a gallon of filthy water, and you mix the two together, what do you get?”
I’m ready to give up on Latino, Russian, Kenyan, Brazilian and Chinese voters. All I care about are American voters, and all I want voting are Americans. Shove it, you Aztlan bastards (not you, Jimbo).
Give up on Hispanics? When were the Hispanics engaged in the RNC in the first place?
Oh wait, I'm dreaming. I thought we had Republicans in charge of the House.
