Former President George W. Bush today cheered on the progress in pushing comprehensive immigration reform through Congress.
The legislative process can be ugly, Bush said with a chuckle in an interview aired today on ABCs This Week. But it looks like they're making some progress.

Enforce every damned immigration law on the books today. Then maybe in a few years we can discuss what needs “reformed”.
Careful...you’ll get FR’s lib wing calling you a drunk and sending you nasty emails...trust me.
The only thing broken about the U.S. immigration system is the promises of politicians who lack the morals, character, and will to enforce the laws already in place.
I think this might be true of some of the “upper echelon” Texas elite class. (And may actually be a BIG problem with the entire republican party RINO class). My question, why aren’t the Republican men solid enough in their beliefs to stand up to their wives? If their wives are getting their values from glossy magazines filled with politically correct garbage ideas, and from what all the other junior League wives agree is the politically correct bandwagon du jour, still, the men should stand up and say NO, that is wrong, that is immoral, that will lead to the decay of families and of our country.
We need strong men of character who will not be pushed around by their wives, even if they want to be invited to the best cocktail parties, etc. We need true, godly Christian men of righteousness who are servant leaders of their families as well as of the people the represent, who aren’t afraid of saying no to their spoiled wives. We need to pray that the wives of our representatives will be saved and their hearts will turn back to Christ, that they will be an influence of GOOD and not evil on their husbands.
If the GOP is trying to win the Latino vote with this, it may be because "you", whether that means white, Conservative, Christian, or what not, have not produced enough offspring to be relevant in twenty years.
I agree that they should stop mnesty, but the harsh reality is they can't stop demographics.
The same will be true of sodomite marriage when they think the time is right. It will be the same poison with different labels.
Well then I guess we're going to have to show Americans the folly of this, so they elect representatives who will stop it from happening. Maybe they can help.
Who said anything about blaming an "entity" in place of espousing conservative values? That's your assumption. But I'm under no illusions about where the Republicans are headed.
You did, above, when you said "The GOP is becoming as much of a threat to our freedoms." Again, you ignore that the elected RINOs are just that, ELECTED. Do you have an answer for that?
You keep parroting that same phrase instead of responding to my points.
I am responding to your points with that phrase. "The GOP is becoming as much of a threat to our freedoms." Your words. But who is electing the RINOs you warn against? That's right, the voters. How do we stop them from electing RINOs? By winning them over to Conservative values.
Look, you've admitted that you might vote for the GOP even if the party openly supported sodomite marriage.
I admitted that I won't make it easier for the greater evil to win.
That's your unfortunate choice, but it will never be mine.
No, you choose to make it easier for the greater evil to win. Worse, you choose to allow it to happen, rather than win the voters over to Conservative values, even though that's the only way we can stop this. At least, you haven't offered an alternative that has a chance of succeeding.
(shaking head)
So does the bobble head in my neighbor's car.
It is very obvious that Jeb is running in 2016. They send George out to test the national response. Jeb also supports amnesty.
Actually, we can't win as a third party. It's time for conservatives to hijack the Republican Party, just as communists hijacked the Democrat Party.
We need to go all out to win the presidential primaries in 2016. We need to go all out to put real conservatives in the House and in the Senate, both in the 2014/2016 primaries and in the general elections. If the RINO wing takes any primary, we need to put our effort and our money behind real conservatives in other races.
We also need to articulate why freedom is a good thing. We take it for granted, but it's no longer being taught in schools. We need to teach in the public schools if we are retired or if we stayed at home but our kids are now grown. Government, which we have seen as a nuisance, has to become a priority for us - it already is the priority for thugs who want to control government as a source of power over decent people. The Obama voters will win again if we stay on the sidelines or split the non-Democrat vote. We have to dominate the existing Republican Party.
LOL. Suddenly the media and the Democrats (but I repeat myself) discover they LOVE the eeeeeeevil George W Bush, who is to be blamed for every failure of Barack Hussein Obama.
Nice try, libs.
I haven’t heard Bush say he ENDORSED the Senate bill...and EVEN if he did (which he DIDN’T DO!), that has no bearing upon whether it should be passed.
Just another example of Obammie the Commie continuing the worst, failed policies of the Bush administration.
All these years Bush was attacked but he stayed silent and now amnesty comes up and he decides to come out and speak up .
The elitist ruling class establishment of this country make me sick and the sooner Dems and R’s understand that they care nothing about this country and think of this as a game where we the voters are just idiots who have to follow because we’re always told that the other side the better.
exactly, the ruling elitist want their cheap servants, the big companies want cheap labor and us voters who go to work, raise our kids with manners and respect are the ones lied to and abused by these elitist asses
I agree with every word.
Unfortunately, we’ve gotten past the point where man can fix the mess we’re in. Anything we do will only slow it down a little. Only He can fix it.
Fortunately, He is on our side. We can't just hope for things to work out; they won't on their own. The parasites have too big a grip on power to lose by accident. Still, if we will do the heavy lifting on our own, I suspect He will make sure that is enough. God wants us to be free . . . if we are willing to earn it.
Very true.
Absolutely wrong.
It is because over the decades the GOPe worked with the RATs to have open primaries, allowing RATS to help push GOPe Statists to the front.
NEVER again will I vote for a RINO. I have drawn a line in the sand that will never be crossed.
Our Republic is being destroyed by the RATs and the GOPe pukes.
Conservatives need to view the GOPe and RATs as equal enemies.
Stupid is as stupid does. I’ll defend you, Mr. Bush, where you’re unjustly criticized, as I do with others. You’re on your own on this one, sir.
Operation Paperclip II is the only immigration reform I’m willing to entertain in regards to illegal aliens. Let them reapply from their countries of origin if we’re going to have a ‘pathway to citizenship’.
Where are all the Bush supporters?
Bet they ran for the tall grass, real fast!
That's a point. But aren't you wasting time typing when you could be making babies?
You do seem to be a bit sympathetic to the amnesty push, then. Not surprising.
"I agree that they should stop mnesty, but the harsh reality is they can't stop demographics."
Which is no reason to throw open the gates and welcome tens of millions of Democrat voters along with their extended families.
"Well then I guess we're going to have to show Americans the folly of this, so they elect representatives who will stop it from happening. Maybe they can help."
Yes, you've posted this before. But it doesn't change the cold fact that Hispanics elect Democrats.
"You did, above, when you said "The GOP is becoming as much of a threat to our freedoms." Again, you ignore that the elected RINOs are just that, ELECTED. Do you have an answer for that?"
Calm down. How many Republicans mouth conservative platitudes and then show their stripes once they get into office? It might take less time to make a list of those who don't. My governor, Bob McDonnell, is a perfect example. He ran on no new taxes, but just recently gave us the largest tax increase in Virgnia history. And then there are the moderate/liberal GOP scum who do their best to stifle and shut down every truly conservative candidate who makes it to Washington.
"Look, you've admitted that you might vote for the GOP even if the party openly supported sodomite marriage."
"I admitted that I won't make it easier for the greater evil to win."
LOL, and you still don't get it. If Republicans support amnesty, sodomite marriage, and everything else the left does, there is no greater evil. They are the same. Can you demontrate how they would be different?
"No, you choose to make it easier for the greater evil to win."
If your party supports queer marriage, amnesty, etc., there is no greater evil. In supporting that, you support evil and help further it.
" Worse, you choose to allow it to happen, rather than win the voters over to Conservative values,"
By awarding amnesty, right? Why not just come out and say it.
" even though that's the only way we can stop this. At least, you haven't offered an alternative that has a chance of succeeding"
The increasingly leftward GOP is not my idea of "succeeding."
(shaking head)
"So does the bobble head in my neighbor's car."
That hunk of plastic probably has a better grip on reality than you.
