New York Times ^ | 07/06/13 | AVIER C. HERNÁNDEZ

Posted on 07/06/2013 10:56:33 AM PDT by AtlasStalled

Written off by election experts and shunned by the political establishment, Mr. Weiner has once again upended popular conceptions about him, vaulting to the front of the race for mayor. * * * Some of the groups that view him most positively are men, young people and African-American voters, according to the poll.

A clear sign of a doomed nation.

David Vitter cruised to an easy re-election. And Mark Sanford was just elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

My statement stands. Democrats do not hold a monopoly on re-electing those with significant personal “issues”.

Aw c’mon! NYC deserves Weiner. In fact the group of RATS running for mayor resemble the bar scene from Star Wars, for example with Weiner a known pervert, than the city council pres. is a lesbian, than you have a crooked Chinese comptroller, and last but not least you have a guy married to a black lesbian. Like I say NYC deserves any one of these misfits.....besides it will give comedians plenty of material.

It’s all about framing the election in the terms the Weiner campaign wants.

Hillary’s gal pal approves this message.

I think Weiner’s comeback is entirely because of bad puns.

He needs to run against someone named “Fagina” or “Mohel”.

Most of his potential voters have probably sexted photos of their genitalia, so what’s the big deal? No reason not to support him.

If the Koran has anything to say about a Muslim woman like Huma marrying a Jewish man like Anthony Weiner, it probably isn’t good.

Simply failing to wear a burkha at the proper time is one of the leading causes of death among Muslim women, so I’m a little afraid for Huma and her neck, but at least if she’s the mayor’s wife she’ll have bodyguards.

Apparently, the Anthony Weiner campaign has decided to dispense with the candidate’s non-charismatic last name and refer to him simply as ‘’Anthony’’ as much as possible. Which seems like a smart move. The newly Weinerless Anthony may soon become the most famous single-named celebrity since Cher, forever, with the help of New Yorkers, to be known as Mayor Anthony.

“OTOH (pun), “revealing” tweets may become the new requirement for getting elected by depraved voters”

I will continue to belittle this weirdo until he develops the decency to remove himself from the public eye and gets a real job.

He may or may not have the gay vote, but I have read that lesbians aren’t in favor of Wiener.

With a hugh gay population it isn’t surprising New York wouldn’t support Weiner rising in the polls

Weiner is a Democrat. He could rob a bank, beat up an old lady, or any other felonies on live TV and admit to it and still get elected. To Democrats they see a “D” on the ballot and they pull the lever. The only hope is he is beat in the primaries.

Weiner has really risen to the occasion. I thought that he would face stiff opposition, but so far, his primary opponents have been limp and impotent. How firm is his support? I guess he knows how to perform on the campaign trail. Will his campaign climax too soon, or will he the have staying power to last to election day? If he gets elected, he’ll have to satisfy the needs of millions of people. He claims he’s up to the task.

During the 1980’s, there was the slogan “I love New York.” If Weiner is elected, will they use the slogan, “I Love Weiner.”?

Upon more closely examining the polls, gays LIKE Wiener, but transgenders are evenly split*.

*Which is actually a TRIPLE entendre.

Thank you.

However, this is a long & hotly contested game and many opponents have staying power. The cream of the crop will make it to the end game and surely come out a winner.

I’m expecting a dramatic climax.

How is this a “rebound?” On the left behaviour like his is taken as normal, even elevating. It shows his compassion for perverts, which many on the left are or wish they were. In short heinous behaviour is, for a liberal, a resumé enhancement.

Voters might feel that he has nothing to hide. If his biggest problem is his smallest bit, maybe New Yorkers feel that they can take anything he dishes out. Easily. Men might be saying, “Hell, my prostate exam was worse than that!” Women could be saying, “when is the Mayor going to get into office and DO something?? Oh, he is already in office? I had no idea!”

They may see him as harmless as an inchworm.

What’s surprising - this country doesn’t elect leaders because they’re wise, competent, or accomplished - they elect leaders who are colorful, entertaining, attractive - it’s pretty much the same ninth grade Student Government election over and over again......
