Bao was a train wreck for the state, Judge Alex Ferrer told Fox News Channel. "It's like he came with an agenda, and he was a horrible witness," Ferrer said. Ferrer shared the news that he had heard jurors were laughing at the exchanges between Bao and defense attorney Don West.
Larry Walters, legal analyst for WOFL-Channel 35, said the medical examiner was "in the tank" for the state. Walters cited this example: Bao's changing his opinion on the length of time Trayvon was alive after being shot. Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in Trayvon's death.
Bao's testimony "imploded" on the state, CNN legal analyst Mark NeJame said. The medical examiner was "long, convoluted and a bit of a mess" and hurt the state's case, NeJame added.
WOFL's Debra Ferwerda said she was used to medical examiners' testimony being dry and boring. "This is very entertaining. He's so proprietary with his notes. Its funny," she said.
WESH-Channel 2 legal analyst Richard Hornsby highlighted that Bao referred to forensic pathologist Vincent Di Maio's book. Hornsby predicted that Di Maio, a witness for the defense, will shred Bao's findings. That should be something to look forward to next week.
How bad was Bao? "He was so bizarre and out there. It's like he was 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' the way he was testifying," Hornsby said. Because of Bao, the state ended its case weakly, Hornsby said.

“Because of Bao, the state ended its case weakly, Hornsby said.”
To be fair, the state began, middled and ended its weak case weakly. There was no practical alternative.
I hope you’re right. I just keep thinking of the Casey Anthony verdict...
The state provides the ME's paychecks, so I would always assume that to be the case, even when one is better at concealing it.
Bao: "No one knows the autopsy better than me."Don West: "And you don't remember anything about the autopsy, correct?"
Bao: "Correct."
In this political trial, the facts do not matter.
This should have never gotten into court and Z should and get millions for his troubles and the hacks in government will get full retirement benefits.
This whole thing was a farce from beginning to end. A case that should have never gone to trial.
The only thing this case has done is to put off the riots until a later date.
Look for Jesse and Al and the Mother to start stirring the crap later this week.
Good enough paraphrasing and I was watching the exchanges.
Where is the black Atticus Finch?
My logic says an acquittal should be granted, but the law (at this point) doesn't need a whole hell of a lot to continue in trial.
There is enough perceived "doubt" for a trial to continue.
I want to have faith in the jury ... as skewed as it MIGHT be.
The jury, to it's credit, wants to stay and hear testimony rather than go eat, or break for the day.

Of course he cant remember anything.
The county brought out the B team to do the autopsy, because it was just another death of a grilled black street punk, so this B team just went through a minimum of protocol.
At the time, who would have expected that Travon looked like Zer0s seven year old kid, or was to be Jesses poster child?
I knew it was going south as soon as Bao insisted in describing how much the skittles-carrying thus was suffering after he was shot.
And yes, I was laughing right along with the jurors. He was great comic relief.
While I still expect Zimmerman to be found guilty in spite of everything -- PC rules the day, unfortunately -- the jury laughing at expert witnesses can't be a good thing.
Several years ago, I was the foreman on a murder case where the defense brought in an expert witness on the last day of testimony, in what was clearly a 'Hail Mary' attempt. He was briefed on the case and the evidence that very morning, and was so obviously off-base in his analysis, that his claim to be an expert struck most of us in the jury seats as dubious, at best. I found myself struggling to keep the smirk off my face as I listened to the guy.
And, yes -- we found the defendant guilty. It doesn't pay to insult the intelligence of a jury.
Thx, it was from memory.;-)
‘In the tank’ is an understatement. The defense attorney had asked Bao if he had checked for fiber evidence in the wound vicinity which could indicate a shot with the muzzle pressed against a clothed body. Bao responded that he had not since that’s not how it happened. In other words, he had already made up his mind how the events occurred and saw no reason to waste time gathering evidence to determine what he already knew. It was mind-blowing to hear a professional investigator actually say that under oath from the witness stand in a court of law.
No matter what, people adjacent to Harlem (or is that entirely Latino now?), South-Central L.A., Southwest Dallas, etc. had better be ready for these areas to burn themselves down again, as with the first Rodney King verdict.
This time they (the street gangs, etc.) are already planning it — in feigned anger if acquittal, celebration if found guilty.
They should have put him on first. The state knew he was a disaster. I mean to him, this was just another dead gang banger and at the time he had no idea it would end up being the trial of the (fill in the blank) so he had no reason to pay attention. But the state had to put him on to prove an element of the case, i.e., that Trayvon died of a gunshot wound. Up until his testimony, there was no hard evidence in the record that Trayvon was dead.
New memory?
Where is Cyril when you need him? The last time I talked to him was about six years ago and then pffft. He would have chewed this oaf up and spit him out.
How can one blame the ME.
Sounds like some are prejudiced against the esteemed doctor. He is a graduate of the prestigious Anhui Medical University in Hefei, Anhui province, China just last year.
In China he tired of treating water buffalo and table grade dogs, so he journeyed to the USA where the living was easy and all he had to do was look at the occasional negro youth who was shot to death.
