Prosecutors in the George Zimmerman second degree murder trial have pushed hard on two points as they seek to make their case against him: that the injuries to Zimmerman on the night Trayvon Martin died were “insignificant” and that he had studied Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law in a college class in 2010.
To win conviction on second-degree murder, the prosecution has to show that the death was caused by a criminal act “demonstrating a depraved mind without regard for human life.”
That’s why the prosecutor keeps pushing the claim that Zimmerman profiled Martin because he was black. Meanwhile, the lesser charge of manslaughter generally is a crime that's been committed in the heat of passion, where there is no premeditation. The jury would have to believe Zimmerman lost his temper in shooting Martin.
People can use force to protect themselves when they reasonably believe it is “necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to themselves.” On this score, the testimony of the Jacksonville medical examiner, Valerie Rao, that Zimmerman injuries were “insignificant” is largely irrelevant.
A broken nose, a head being slammed into cement, and punches to the face may not have left Zimmerman incapacitated. The important question is whether such an attack with a man on top of him would leave Zimmerman to “reasonably believe” that there was a threat of “imminent death or great bodily harm to himself.”
Much was also made of the class Zimmerman took class at Seminole State College taught by Professor Alexis Carter. The key supposedly was that Zimmerman really did understand Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law. Prosecutor Richard Mantei told the court that Zimmerman's legal studies would help jurors understand his "state of mind" and "ambitions and frustrations" before the shooting.....

GZ is half-Peruvian.
You may recall Peru is where the Incas lived. They were 100% Injun until a white conquistador dude by the name of Francisco Pizarro González (1471 or 1476 to 1541) arrived and took the place over. European stock followed and inter-bred with the Injuns, er, Native Americans.
According to CIA, today's Peru sorts out as "Amerindian [yeah, right – forget my wacist "Injun" word] 45%, mestizo (mixed Amerindian and white) 37%, white 15%, black, Japanese, Chinese, and other 3%".
My guess would be that GZ's mother falls in the second group. This means that GZ is basically a white dude.
If I'd sat next to him on an airplane, I would have pegged him as white. Only if the flight were long, and we'd talked a lot, and he'd mentioned his mother's heritage, would I have had any higher-resolution picture.

You are absolutely correct, and I've posted as much elsewhere. The Feds have already established that precedent with the Rodney King beating trial.
The situation reminds me of a statement I read once by a fascist political theorist. "What is just is what an Aryan (liberal) man says is just". In other words - it's what liberals feel that matters, not the law or true justice.

They have assaulted his character, his reputation, his integrity.....put his family in fear for their lives.....and he's a young man.
Where does he go to live the rest of his life if acquitted?
And what about George's uncle.....by all accounts, including a local attorney making commentary on the trial who knows this uncle for years, is an upstanding man......where does he go to regain his respect for a country that could do this to his nephew?----a country he served in the military for 26 years.
What is right is wrong, what is wrong is right.....the Bible said it would be as such in the last days.
I would like to see that prosecutor have his nose broken, his head slammed against concrete and multiple punches to the face by someone sitting on him and see if he considers it “insignificant”.
