GZ is half-Peruvian.
You may recall Peru is where the Incas lived. They were 100% Injun until a white conquistador dude by the name of Francisco Pizarro González (1471 or 1476 to 1541) arrived and took the place over. European stock followed and inter-bred with the Injuns, er, Native Americans.
According to CIA, today's Peru sorts out as "Amerindian [yeah, right – forget my wacist "Injun" word] 45%, mestizo (mixed Amerindian and white) 37%, white 15%, black, Japanese, Chinese, and other 3%".
My guess would be that GZ's mother falls in the second group. This means that GZ is basically a white dude.
If I'd sat next to him on an airplane, I would have pegged him as white. Only if the flight were long, and we'd talked a lot, and he'd mentioned his mother's heritage, would I have had any higher-resolution picture.
