Assad had absolutely nothing to gain by launching a chem attack. Not only nothing to gain, but everything to lose---suicidal, in fact.
I don’t believe that for a moment..especially knowing the true reaches of the NSA now. Of course, given that Obama and the corruptocrats in charge now have most listening ears pointed inward..they could have missed it.
It makes no sense for Assad to use these weapons..unless it was done by elements in his own force that have switched sides to the Islamists. That is a possibility too.

We all realize that oil is an all important commodity for our country, so truly it is of strategic national interest. My problem right now is all the subterfuge surrounding it by corrupt politicians who are enriching themselves along the way.

The evidence is mounting that the military government currently ruling Egypt has decided to embarrass the Obama administration as part of a strategy to suppress Muslim Brotherhood activity in Egypt.
Last week, WND reported that Tehani al-Gebali, the vice president of the Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt, gave a speech and participated in an interview broadcast on Egyptian television that identified Malik Obama, the Kenyan half-brother of President Obama, as “a major architect” managing investments for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.
In the speech, Gebali said she would like “open files” to expose nations like the United States that are resisting the current military-controlled government of Egypt by continuing to support “terrorist” groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood.
“The Egyptian people are astounded,” wrote Coptic Egyptian author Michael Armanious in an article titled “Egyptians Bewildered Over Support for the Muslim Brotherhood,” published by the Gatestone Institute International Policy Council. “They simply do not understand the Obama Administration’s efforts to bring the Muslim Brotherhood back to power.”
Armanious puzzled over why the Obama administration supported the Muslim Brotherhood when the result of the “Arab Spring” was to oust Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and elect Muslim Brotherhood-backed Mohamed Morsi as president June 30, 2012.

Imagine how many more problems securing oil for our national strategic interests will be when the Muslim Brotherhood and AQ are in charge of every well and pipeline throughout the Middle East.
I am sure that is someone’s grand strategy..unfortunately..that someone could be our own president.

Ok..so let’s say we are brought around begrudgingly to see this as a ultimate ‘grand strategy’ to marginalized Russia and China’s power. Who is to say that when Qatar and Muslim Brotherhood/AQ have all the control, that they will be our alley? They hate the west..particularly the US.

What is noteworthy in the New Yorker article is the reporting of the CIA supplying chemical weapons to Saddam. So Saddam DID have WMDs?

OK Good....then please put me on your ping list now that Egypts quieted down....I want to know what’s going on with Syria, especially since this very much revolves around Putins decisions..... but will not be as envolved as with Egypt.
I recall long time ago we were talking about not taking our eyes off Russia as the Arab Spring first began....and here we are now with Putin and Obama over Syria.....surprising none of us who know Putin and Russia.....
