We shouldn't celebrate 'Independence Day' until this evil simpleton is impeached and drug out of the White Hut by his heels.

The only good thing yesterday was that mystery meat was out of the country. As far as this mayor Mike Summers is concerned, the people of Lakewood need to get his stupid behind out of public office!

They just shut down the 4th in the park.

Headline is a little misleading.

I live in another Cleveland suburb (Bedford) and they canceled our fireworks display for the first time in my memory, another victim of black gang violence against whites last year. It's for our safety. Yeah.

There are a legitimate reasons for these things.

Since at least 2006, Ohio has been tormented by large groups of black thugs showing up at Independence Day festivities, starting fights and brawling, stealing stuff, intimidating festival goers, vandalizing, etc. As cities discontinue these festivities for safety reasons, the large black groups migrate to the next city.

Generators (gasoline) and propane grills (compressed gases) are very bad karma to have around fireworks. Tents and shelters are often flammable.

Seriously, what kind of sadist would take a dog to a fireworks show? While some dogs ignore it, many lose their marbles in panic and terror.

The article should state the reasoning behind the prohibitions.

1.All generators, propane and gas fueled grills are prohibited.

I don't see the reason for this.

2.All tents and shelters are prohibited.

This one I understand if they're expecting a crowd. Many of these tents and shelters take up a lot of space. You can see 2-3, of 4-5 people in one when the space available would provide for twice that number if the tent/shelter wasn't there.

3.Police will be conducting searches of bags and coolers for reasons of public safety.

I understand the reasoning, but I disagree with it.

4.No alcoholic beverages are permitted at any time throughout the year.

That's so standard I'm going to ignore it.

5.No personal fireworks. This includes novelty fireworks like sparklers.

I have to agree with this one if it's crowded. I've seen too many idiots completely disregard the safety, personal space, rights of others and let their children do the same. I'll make an exception if I'm allowed to kick the stuffing out of anyone who throws a sparkler, smoke bomb, etc. at me.

6.No dogs or pets of any kind will be permitted in the park on July 4th.

If it's crowded, do we want people stepping and sitting in dog crap and spreading it all over?

7.The skate park, tennis courts, basketball courts and Kid’s Cove playground will be closed at 7:00 p.m.

I don't know the reason for this.

Normal people are losing their freedoms because of a small number of uncivilized specially-privileged individuals.

Since it’s politically incorrect to block the uncivilized brutes, normal people lose their rights.

Lakewood is just west of downtown Cleveland, on Lake Erie, and surrounded by Cleveland on the other three sides. Public transportation to get there is aplenty. It's walking distance from some of the less assimilated hispanic communities, and there's a whole lot of diversity on that near west side of Cleveland.

They have to have those rules if they want to "celebrate". Where they're delusional is thinking they can keep Cleveland's challenges out. JMHO

Unfortunately, every one of those rules had to be implemented to stop the feral animals from ruling the park and preventing average families from having any chance whatsoever of enjoying a peaceful experience in the park.

None of those rules would impact a family using the park for a stroll or a picnic, except for the search rule. In fact, that particular rule is a tip off as to exactly how grim the situation must be in that area.

2 reasons for this:

(1) This is a beautiful park on the shores of Lake Erie that "citizens" trash on special days.

(2) It is not far from low-class Amish neighborhoods.

It is clear why rules using this property is for the purpose of respecting its beauty, cleanliness, and accessibility for all, especially with little kids.

Been there.
