Three police officers have been pulled from street duty for their safety in Southern California after a video of them shooting a dog dead as they arrested its owner hit the internet.
A cellphone video that had more than 3.7 million views on YouTube by Thursday morning shows the dog, named Max, being shot after scrambling out of a car's back seat through a window and lunging at officers who had handcuffed its master. The dog's owner Leon Rosby had been filming a police raid in Hawthrone California, and was arrested for alleged obstruction of justice.

Cops shooting all these dogs is only making the ammo shortage worse. I wished they’d knock it off.
The guy should have rolled up the windows in his car 1/2 way so the dog couldn’t climb out of the car.
you can see in the video his back left window is up halfway, it can’t go down all the way on that car. don’t know if the right one was down further.
Apparently this isn't the first time that Rosby has had issues with the local police. His prior record includes convictions for resisting arrest, battery and driving under the influence. Rosby, a black man, has filed six complaints alleging mistreatment and racial profiling by the Hawthorn Police.
'There's been a pattern of harassment against him and other African-Americans in Hawthorne. Last July, the police responded to his home and beat him unnecessarily, then threw him in jail for no reason. We sued for that. We'll amend that complaint to include the dog incident,' Gulden said.
The dog didnt “lunge” at anyone. He went to the spot where the arrest was taking place but didnt attack anyone.

Just before my evacuation from the USSA, I noticed that
what use to be the “good old boy” cops on the beat were morphing into jack-booted thugs with an attitude.
The cops that put themselves in this bad position are also to blame. Since when is videoing a cop a crime? Rodney king?
It is pretty amazing since there is cohesive training for everything else imaginable in officer school but even dog friendly and experienced officers apparently need better tools to deal with animal behavior and nonlethal conflict resolution. I believe the Humane Society and other organizations have offered to provide structured classes free of charge but few departments are taking them up on it. Hopefully that will change will all the recent unfavorable exposure.
Like where did that bullet(s) go? Down the street to where? Reminds me of the scene from “It’s A Wonderful Life” where the cop just shot down main street without regard as to who might be down there.

Rosby was held overnight in jail on suspicion of obstruction of justice and released at 5 AM the next day.
Rosby says that police would not return his dog's body to him.
Why do we always have to find things out like this in the foreign press? What's wrong with the US press? I know that's a dumb question the US press is owned by obama and his god satan.
I think they simply don't want to take them because there is more utility in the intimidation and conditioning instilled by shooting dogs (and sometimes cats)… unchecked, they will get to people.
