Bette Midler is taking a different approach.
The Parental Guidance star imagines a world in which the U.S. lost the war for its independence, but it's not like that's a bad thing. After all, she argues, that would mean we'd finally have socialized medicine.

And we wouldn’t freedom of speech.
You got that right.
And she’d still be “singing” in a gay bathhouse somewhere.
She hasn’t read about the butterfly and the time machine.
If we had lost the Revolutionary War Schindler’s List would have occurred much sooner and you and yer loved ones wouldn’t exist.
No Bette, if it didn’t happen just then, it would have happened in another way later. Check out a really smart guy named Adam Smith who pointed out the futility of an island trying to rule a continent.
We would also be speaking German.
“Was he an American English professor or an English English professor?”
Bette
She has the brain of a flea and the looks of Helen Thomas.
So much talent, so few brain cells. But then again, that describes most in the “entertainment world.” My Golden Doodle would probably beat her at Scrabble!
Midler is suffering from MMTB Syndrome -- an affliction that is common among liberals, particularly Hollywood liberals.
MMTB Syndrome = More Money Than Brains.
to carry your thought further ... if the US was just a colony of Great Britain then it is indeed possible Hitler would have won WWII. Of course he still had the Ruskies to deal with but might have pulled it off. Midler would have never been born and we would be well on our way to having Sharia law in the “colonies”.
If she is a true commie, shouldn’t she be giving all of her money to the needy?
I was too harsh on Bette. No one is as ugly as Helen Thomas. I stand by the flea analogy.
Little commie spent too much time in Murmansk.

lol. I have no idea what she donates or to whom. But all she really needs to do is continue with her successful marriage (unlike most marriages in Hollywood, she has been successful with hers), sing and act. Leave politics out of it. The only good news for her is that most people won’t read this article or even hear about it so her standing won’t go down like The Dixie Chicks, Jane Fonda, and Barbara Streisand.
If we’d lost the Revolution, we’d be paying for universal healthcare in Great Britain. And there wouldn’t have been a Civil War, so slavery would still be going on.
