If the majority of Americans oppose elective late-term abortion, why do we have Davis complaining to CBSs Bob Schieffer that the male politicians who are championing the late-term abortion ban are bullying women? Maybe its she who is bullying the rest of us into supporting a view that is mocked by scientific advancement; namely 3-D sonograms. Maybe we should be thankful for the men and wonder what is wrong with the women who think protecting the right to abort your baby for any reason up to the 26th week is a human right.
Human-rights movements have traditionally existed to help the voiceless and those without agency gain progressively more rights. Yet in the case of abortion, the voiceless have progressively lost rights at the hands of people who claim to be human-rights crusaders. Abortion-rights leaders have turned the world upside down. They want us to believe that a grown woman is voiceless, that she has less agency than the infant in her womb who relies on her for life. A woman has so little agency, we are told, that she is incapable of getting an abortion before the fifth month of her pregnancy. To suggest she should do so is a war on women. Its an insult to women dressed up as womens rights.
On ABCs This Week, Peggy Noonan responded to the chants of I stand with Wendy by noting, What she is ... standing for is something we would recognize as infanticide, late-term abortion, the taking of a little childs life. Standing for that is not heroic, and it is not something to be cheered.
FOX NEWS liberal gets it right, and eloquently so..
I rarely disagree with her anymore. She never ceases to surprise.
Kirsten might be coming over from the Dark Side.
She seems to have slowly moderated her ultra-leftist stance on most issues.
Every now and then she seems to backslide a little, but in general she seems to be much less reactionary than she was some years back.
Of course it is no doubt due in part to her disillusionment with Obama and the growing realization that she has been played for a sap.
Kirsten just lost her position as a liberal in good standing. She will now be roundly condemned.
Well, when you spend as much time as she does with Juan (dumb as a rock) Williams..maybe she learned to recognize stupidity..
Abortion is the PR coup of the century.
Men tell women that they just want to use their bodies because real women are more fun than inflatable dolls. Then they tell women it’s their responsibility if they get pregnant, and they can just kill the kids if they don’t want to raise them. The amazing thing is the men tell the women that treating them like sex toys is actually advancing womens’ rights.
And the women buy it and march in favor of it.
It’s as amazing as if someone actually convinced a racial segment of the population that being allowed to be slaves is a right and they will not be denied their right to be a slave.
I just don’t get it.
Who is speaking for her Creator-endowed rights in this present time and space in all of history?
Today's "progressives," with all of their domination of academia and Far Left politics, seem to fit into a category described in an essay by T.S. Eliot on Virgil:
"In our time, when men seem more than ever to confuse wisdom with knowledge and knowledge with information and to try to solve the problems of life in terms of engineering, there is coming into existence a new kind of provincialism which perhaps deserves a new name. It is a provincialism not of space but of time--one for which history is merely a chronicle of human devices which have served their turn and have been scrapped, one for which the world is the property solely of the living, a property in which the dead hold no share." - T. S. Eliot
Ms. Powers is that extremely rare animal known as the thinking liberal. The thinking liberal is nearly extinct.
I don’t always agree with Ms. Powers, but she has the integrity to defend her positions, and engage in honest debate. For that, she has earned my respect.
There sould be a “Kristian Powers” “Rule” on Free Republic!
Help me out here, but exactly which gender is Wendy Davis?
At the least you would certainly have to learn restraint if you are around Juan "The Apologist" Williams much at all.
I think she is very smart. Smart enough to realize where the money is, for example. She could be another screeching loon like that idiot broad Hannity seems fixated with, or the female version of Beckel, Colmes, or Williams who would argue the sun rises in the west if Obama said so. Instead Powers finds a middle ground that is largely based on common sense and thus differentiates herself as “fair and balanced” to borrow a phrase. Good for her pocketbook, no doubt. What does she believe personally? It’s pretty irrelvant, isn’t it? She’s just a performer. Why, when you’ve got the freedom to write your own script, would you choose to alienate half or more of your audience?
At one time we had a radio talk-show host here in Pittsburgh. He did not do a political show, but he leaned left.
One day he went on a rant about something outrageously stupid that Liberals had done in that day’s news.
He then announced that “although I personally think the country would be better having both points of view represented, THIS is why Liberalism is dying. Because it has become hopelessly and intransigently STUPID!
Whenever Brit Hume and Juan Williams are on the panel together, and Juan says something that is even more egregiously stupid than usual, the director always seems to enjoy putting the camera on Brit’s face..the expression is priceless... a cross between “ I can’r believe he is as dumb as that” and “what am I doing here in the same room with this clown.”
Gosnell. Some liberals cannot hide their feelings any longer.
And, should not on murder.
More accurate with the above revision.
I noticed that about Brit and Juan.
Brit has trouble keeping the eye-rolling to a minimum.
She has had a baby and knows what would happen to her if she killed it. She is also a Christian which is hard to maintain your liberal cult standing.
Pray for America to Wake Up
