The severity of injuries thing troubles me, you can be laying there getting pounded and doing just fine and then the next punch puts you in a coma.

The only thing Zimmerman could do was assume that Martin intended to keep on punching, it wasn't a time for hope and optimism.

Personally I would be intent on putting a stop to the event, whatever it took.

Depends on what the jury thinks..how much is too much...

One pound on the pavement with me not being able to get him off and I would probably shoot him.

But then I might be convicted.

Yep. It's one thing if a guy takes a swing at you and runs. It's quite another if he's on top, punching away, and there's no indication he's going to stop before you are dead.
