Hmmm. I'm looking at his bio and background and he sounds like a good alternate to Capito. Successful businessman and Afghan War vet. Account director who wrote a well received book on economics. Conservative Catholic. He only served very briefly in elective office though -- 1 term in the West Virginia in the House of Delegates from 2008 to 2010. I hope that doesn't come back to haunt him.

We could do a lot worse. At least someone didn't call up perennial candidate John Raese and ask him to run again.

I think AuH2ORepublican expressed reservations about Capito because the RATs could win a Senate race against her by running someone who campaigns to her right on social issues, and I agree. It doesn't matter what the RAT's true beliefs really are, if Capito is the nominee they will run another phony Manchin/Casey Jr. type RAT who tells everyone how much he loves guns, babies, and Jesus, and a bunch of gullible West Virginia voters will elect the "pro-traditional values Christian" phony over Capito.

It's a long shot, but I think McGeehan at least has a shot.

Oh, BTW, does West Virgina count as one of those "red states" (sorry I refuse to use the media terminology to describe strongly conservative states) where we're allowed to oppose RINOs? Because even in Alaska, conservatives defended RINOs like Murkowski as the "best we can get" and I bet we'll hear the same argument from "conservatives" backing Capito.

Capito’s problem is that she is too (Republican) establishment. She should’ve run against Manchin when she had the chance. At this point, we need true, unapologetic reformists in the mode of Ted Cruz. She just isn’t it.

I haven’t seen too many signs of that yet. There was an outcry from some West Virginian conservative group that Capito was a RINO.
I’m not too familiar with the WV GOP.
Now, the Alaska GOP is top to bottom full of Murkowski crooks who hated Palin and hated Miller too. The Illinois GOP is similarly corrupt.

As well as the Rovian RINOrgy at the national level with old Bush-bots and Reince Pukus, the establishment in some of these states also needs fumigating.

I think we are allowed to back McGeehan because I doubt he has any witchcraft in his youth.

A tough hurdle for an Irishman to win over those small-town DEMS in southern WVA. Dj, those hillbilly DEMS gonna back McGeehan? He sounds like a yankee. Must be from the north.

I’m highly skeptical anyone can beat her in the primary. They love to vote for the name they know and the state party is 100% behind her.

Also she has 3 primary foes, there is no runoff in WV.

Unless someone stronger gets in (still plenty of time but they clearly don’t think they can beat Capito) the leading rat is party switching hussy Former Republican State Del. and frequent candidate Sheirl Fletcher.

According to her website she appears to be pro-life with rape exemption and against federal funding. It’s hard for me to see it becoming a major issue in the race though, her website practically begs for support for both sides so she ain’t gonna go making an issue out of it.

I’d expect Capito to grind her into pulp. McGeehan should be favored over her as well.

I think the odds of an ardent prolife rat getting their nomination are low. The big fish they seem to want to run is Sec of State Natalie Tennant whom the abortion lobby apparently loves. State Supreme Court Justice Robin Davis is another possible candidate, no idea if she’s pro-life.
