To be sure, Carter and Obama had less than a complete grasp of the events and their importance concerning Iran and Egypt.

However, it's complete folly to believe that portion of the world (islamic culture in general) is available to diplomatic and democratic ideas in the first place.

I'd like to believe that notion would occur to those in power outside this forum, but I'm less than hopeful.

What you say about democracy and Islamic culture also holds true for democracy and Hispanic culture. Probably a residual effect of 700 years of Islamic rule in Spain. Think of the terms ‘alcalde’ ‘caudillo’ and ‘caliph’. Both cultures are dominated politically by the willingness, almost the need, for the people to follow a strong man.

The problem with the liberals once they are working in government, e.g., as the president or even rank and file foreign service officers is that their real world experience is zip, zilch, nada, but they have their slogans and belief system that is hard to overcome. They think that just because they can sign things into American law or push social agendas at home that the rest of the world will fall into line like law-abiding Americans. This is not the case and these foreign service officers, their agency counterparts on the pay-scale and the those liberal politicians appointed over them are in for a rude awakening when the walls start tumbling down.

I am sure the Egyptian Military is going to remedy this situation already made worst by Obama to save the foreign aid which they depend. If not, Egyptians will starve and American's largest Embassy presence in the Middle East will be unsafe for the family members and local national staff to remain. This will render America's diplomacy, while tainted with Obama's socialist stench, completely inept.

We may yet witness the end of an ear in Egypt where American Aid no longer allows peace for the Suez Canal or Jordan. It is sad that a president puts his Party about the good of Country but that is political warfare the democrats have wrought against their opposition since the Viet Nam War protestor's seized control of the democrat party.

Obama has no grasp of the natural order of the world and only believes he can control everything with sweeping edicts. This will be his undoing in world politics.
