Clifford Chester Sims (June 18, 1942 – February 21, 1968) was a United States Army soldier and a recipient of America's highest military decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in the Vietnam War.

Sims joined the Army from Jacksonville, Florida and by February 21, 1968 was serving as a Staff Sergeant in Company D, 2nd Battalion (Airborne), 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. On that day, during an engagement with enemy forces near Hu, in the Republic of Vietnam, Sims threw himself onto a triggered booby-trap device. He was killed in the ensuing explosion, but was successful in protecting the members of his squad.

Clifford Sims, aged 25 at his death, was buried in Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Florida.

Please remember the Canteen is here to honor, support and entertain our troops and their families.  This is a politics-free zone!  Thanks for helping us in our mission!

Good morning to everyone at the Canteen. My hit and run post for today. We should stay in the low 90 temps again today.

Morning Beachie!

We rarely have high humidity, but it still can get hot, 97 today.

I have both Thursday and Friday off, so I might head back up to Washington to my sister's place.

It's really hot working outside during the summer; need to acclimate to the heat.

Well, enjoy your day off!

Howdy, EGC! (((hugs)))

Things are ok here. The rain has cooled things off and it’s much more pleasant than when the temp. was over 100.

Hope you and Bo are doing well

Good afternoon ladies and (((HUGS))). Just got home visiting my sisters at the farm place. I took several packages of frozen crappie and two I had thawed out for lunch. We had a great fish fry.

Good evening, Ma. He made it to St. Louis okay today and is presently on a bus to Leonard Wood to start processing. And probably meet a drill sergeant. That should be fun for him.

Or not!
