Its just like Nazi Germany, says resident.
HIGH RIVER RCMP revealed Thursday that officers have seized a substantial amount of firearms from homes in the evacuated town of High River.
We just want to make sure that all of those things are in a spot that we control, simply because of what they are, said Sgt. Brian Topham.
People have a significant amount of money invested in firearms ... so we put them in a place that we control and that theyre safe.
That news didnt sit well with a crowd of frustrated residents who had planned to breach a police checkpoint northwest of the town as an evacuation order stretched into its eighth day.
I find that absolutely incredible that they have the right to go into a persons belongings out of their home, said resident Brenda Lackey, after learning Mounties have been taking residents guns. When people find out about this theres going to be untold hell to pay.
About 30 RCMP officers set up a blockade at the checkpoint, preventing 50 residents from walking into the town. Dozens more police cars, lights on, could be seen lining streets in the town on standby.
Officers laid down a spike belt to stop anyone from attempting to drive past the blockade. That action sent the crowd of residents into a rage.
Whats next? Tear gas? shouted one resident.
Its just like Nazi Germany, just taking orders, shouted another.
This is the reason the U.S. has the right to bear arms,

Ruby Ridge wasn’t what Canada did. That was a total frame job to get one little family/group of people the government didn’t like. Nobody in Canada was being set up on trumped up charges or modifying guns in any way to get a phony charge of too short a barrel on a shotgun.
“Already happened here during katrina.
And the government got slapped down for doing it, and new laws were enacted to make darn sure it wouldn’t happen again.
/johnny “
The “slap down” doesn’t appear to have included any single person receiving any consequences whatsoever and the new law to make darn sure it wouldn’t happen again was killed in the DEMOCRAT controlled designated kill committee of the Colorado Senate.
Talk Canada all you want, but police did the same thing in New Orleans.
Good to know the “registration=confiscation 100% of the time” rule is still in force
Sounds like the tree of liberty needs to be watered in Canada.
I always used to think the mounties were a group to be admired. This tarnishes the old childhood image that I had of them.
I used RR as an example of govt over reach and the whole sale govt murder of un-prosecuted people including mothers.....think it can’t happen in Canada?
Think again.....
Ummm. Katrina happened in Louisiana.
Firearms were returned, settlements happened.

Beware providing the govt with any info regarding your weapons.
Just a dry run to test and gauge reactions and refine techniques.
The Late Great White North
With all the anti-gun legislation, the slow creep of anti-gun propaganda on TV and in our schools (brainwashing), I can see it happening sometime in our future. Maybe even on a volunteer basis. However, having said all that, I hope you are right. ;-)
Some, but not all or even most. The question is what percentage of citizens will be willing to stand up for freedom and for the Second Amendment, and what percentage of cops will be willing to risk it once? Twice? I imagine, having had time to think through the situation a whole lot more than those in New Orleans could, a good percentage of Americans would decline to cooperate. How many cops would bet on that percentage being zero, when they're going to face armed Americans, many of them prior military, who are in the right and know how to shoot?
No, i know what you were trying to say. I think the NOLA Katrina thing where they were going house to house diarming people/neighborhoods at gunpoint was more on the nose. But yeah, I do get your point.
Oh and it definitely can happen in Canada. Yup.

It won't take a whole lot of people with that sentiment before the police will run and hide in a safe place:
It’s very soon coming down to either 3rd Party or 4th Box.
“Did the RCMP search EVERY home in the affected area or just where they knew where the guns would be? If the latter, how did they know where to look?”
No need to search much. Its called R-E-G-I-S-T-R-A-T-I-O-N. An added benefit is this sweeps up any firearms that weren’t registered due to non-compliance. A backdoor confiscation.
I've wondered about that too, and share your frustration. I guess our most natural weakness lies in the fact that conservatives are by nature individualists, and cherish independence. Speaking for myself, I never cared to be part of clubs, associations, committees etc. I have no real ill will towards anybody...I just prefer my own space and the small circles I move in. Leftists from what I've observed (I once was one) have an obvious herd mentality, prefer 'movements' and thrive in bureaucracies. They also tend to be rapacious and love wielding power over other people, and imposing their beliefs and attitudes, being cruel and sadistic to any who resist them. My $0.02.
Until we are willing to act like them they will continue to win.
