The Department of Health and Human Services today released the final text of the final adjustments to the Obamacare regulation that requires virtually all health-care plans to provide cost-free coverage for sterilizations, contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs.
Catholics and Evangelical Christians have objected to the regulation, arguing that it violates their First Amendment right to the free exercise of religion. The Catholic Church teaches that sterilization, contraception and abortion are all intrinsically immoral. Evangelical Christians believe that abortion takes an innocent human life and is thus wrong.
The final regulation issued today provides no accommodations at all for individual Catholics and other Christians who morally object to the mandate. It also makes no accommodations for private for-profit employers who morally object to the mandate. Catholic and other Christian individuals in the United States will now be forced by the Obama administration to get coverage for sterilizations, contraceptives and abortion--whether they want it or not.
The Obama administration's mandate says: They have no choice.
I disagree because the progressives desire for a socialist state won't end with obama. They have packed the bureaucracy with like minded people. They see their coalition comprised of unmarried women, minorities, sexual deviants and Sunday go to meeting Christians getting stronger.
They see that only a minority of this country takes their faith seriously and with the media working overtime to denigrate people who truly believe in Jesus Christ what's the rush. The RC's showed they are a paper tiger in the last election when they re-elected obama.
They don't need to move quickly. The mechanics for the govt to be our master in all aspects of our lives are in place.
“In the battle between good and evil, Obama has chosen his side. May God have mercy on his soul (if Obama still has a soul).”
See Jim Towey’s op-ed “Supremes’ Quiet Hit on Obamacare” in the June 26 New York Post. Namely, the Court ruled that the government cannot make aid contingent on an organization’s point of view. The point of view in this case was an organization’s stance pro or anti prostitution.
Hello. The same thing applies to ObamaCare. Never mind that the organization wanted the government to be against prostitution and not give aid to those who refused to forbid it, but the Court said you can’t do that. That would violate the 1st Amendment. Prostitution bad, abortifacients bad, but the principle is the same.
Well, we can hope. Opinion by the not-too-stupid Roberts.
Correction. Evil loses eventually In the time between now and that final defeat they will have many, many victories. We see them all about us now.
Nope, I have seen the (immediate) future and it is not good.
That's a cheerful perspective, all the more so because it is accurate. Mine is less cheerful but no less accurate:
In the battle between good & evil, evil loses - eventually.
Had this been done, as you suggest, the outcome would’ve been nearly the same. The so-called Catholics supporting Obama resent the Church telling them how to vote. They vote with organized labor or the anti-war camp exclusively, the latter as some misguided following of what they believe to be the enactment of Catholic social justice in the culture. They haven’t a clue what it truly means live their faith...
Like I said, I'm not focusing on the last election, but rather the decades of "social justice" that laid the groundwork for this.
THAT is where the culpability lies.
If they get away with this, they will be able to edit the Bible and tell the church what scripture it can teach. This can only come from pure evil.
I agree.
I think we are watching the rise of the era of the totalitarian state. Institutions that don't fall into line will be systematically neutered. As these institutions fall into line their beliefs will be reinterpreted to fit the new "orthodoxy".
I believe we can learn from how the Christians failed to respond to the threat of islam as it emerged in the middle east and how Christians are wining the day in China.
Well we’ll see...
Soul? It is my firm belief Obama is an anti-Christ just look into his souless eyes, lack of background, influences and his lack of faith.
Well, unfortunately, you’re wrong here. :)
Even with that aspect, most Catholics in most states are prolife and against gay marriage, whereas the Republican nominee supported both.
It’s been done before... See, King James Bible.
That wasn't true in Minnesota. When the battle over the marriage amendment was raging last fall, there were quite a few "Another Catholic voting no" lawn signs in the Twin Cities. Poseurs, all.
How nice. Free Exercise clause now only applies to what prayers people say, and what gods they worship. Religion is officially banished from any role in public discourse on anything, but the state can invade any other aspect of religion that it cares to, except if the religion is Islam. Thank you for freeing us all from freedom, oh, One./s
Everything Obama does is in active opposition to Jesus and to Christianity, so he is certainly an anti-Christ. As for being the Anti-Christ (I know you used "an" and not "the"), I find the most frightening thing about Obama to be that he's not the Anti-Christ. The Anti-Christ would be just as evil and malicious, but much more energetic in obliterating everything good. Obama's destruction seems almost casual - just what he can wreck between vacations and golf outings. When I see how little we can accomplish against this minor league player, I finally have an appreciation for just how terrible the real showdown will be.
Next up: Ohomocare, in which all businesses will be mandated to provide services for gay weddings, if so requested.
Jeepers... Thanks for the ping...
Now we are starting to get a taste of what the folks must have felt like right before the first American civil war broke out. Families divided and destroyed. Lines drawn. And then the actual fighting began.
