Next weeks cover is a painting of Bert and Ernie cuddling on a couch while watching the nine Supreme Court justices on television. The artwork is titled, Moment of Joy.
Its amazing to witness how attitudes on gay rights have evolved in my lifetime, artist Jack Hunter, the artist told The New Yorker. The magazine said Hunter submitted the unsolicited artwork via Tumblr.
This is great for our kids, a moment we can all celebrate, he told the magazine.
In 2011 the Sesame Workshop addressed questions about the sexual orientation of Bert and Ernie in a Facebook posting.
Bert and Ernie are best friends, the statement read. They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves. Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics (as most Sesame Street Muppets do), they remain puppets, and do not have a sexual orientation.
So that settles that.
I always thought the point of Sesame Street was to teach kids to get along not to get it on.
And Lord only knows who Elmo is tickling.
(Which one is Zer0?)
Thats some sick poop.
Romney was right. Defund PBS... NOW!
Gay this, gay that... gay, gay, gay, gay, gay, gay, gay, gay, gay. Sick of it. I used to be libertarian on the issue, but the in your face methods are pushing me right and, now that I have a 4 year old son, he is getting lessons on the truth.
So Burt is the pitcher and Ernie is the catcher?
Can’t come soon enough for me!
PBS has nothing to do with this. It's the New Yorker magazine that's running that picture on its cover.
I don’t think PBS is behind this; it’s the liberal fascists at the New Yorker. PBS and the Children’s Workshop should sue the publishers for misappropriation.
Anything the left can do to get kids introduced to the queer life they will do.
Jinx!
PBS had to release the rights to do this I would think.
And if you don't, the gaystapo and their thought police will come for those kids of yours.
Well, do any kids really watch Sesame Street anymore? I grew up with it, but I don’t think my kids ever saw an ep. Other than Elmo specific videos.
I do think this guy and the New Yorker are doing this deliberately to forcethe “outing” of the characters, but are really opening up a world of hurt on Sesame Street and CTW. They’ll either gave to deny again that Ernie and Bert are gay, which is really going to tick off Liberals. Or they say “Yup, they’re a gay couple” which opens them up to accusations of lying and subliminal indoctrination.
I bet that CTW is going to be PISSED about this.
I was going to say, I wonder if they received authorization from PBS or whoever to use their likeness in this cover?
PBS is so deep into the liberal fascists orgs that there is no difference. They relish this association, there will be no lawsuits.
