Only to point this out. When Latinos reach a significant population in most southern states...you only need to arrange for the Pope to make a ten-day swing through and galvanize Latinos back to the Catholic Church. Then you pull out some Latino-Billy Graham and pump up the other half. Suddenly, you’ve got half the Latino population in America who are either Tea Party or Republican. I think the Democrats really screwed up on their long-term strategy.

Delusional Thinking

Blacks are by far the most religious group out there, they overwhelmingly vote Democrat. Mexicans are no different, they will vote whomever gives them the most stuff and who their race leaders tell them to vote for and rest assured that won't be the Republicans.

Yet 75% of Latinos voted for Obama, and Republicans have never received a majority of the Latino vote. If Latinos today are closer to the strong Catholic environment of the homeland they left, then what makes you think that Latinos will start voting Republican after a few generations of living in incereasingly secular American society.

The truth is that, when it comes to voting, Latinos like bifggovernment and government welfare more than they like conservative Christian values. The same applies for blacks whom the church plays a big part of their life. The myth that Latinos or blacks are natural Republicans is just that -- a myth.

Protestant Hispanics went 56% republican in 2994, and 48% republican in 2008, they don’t need much to get them right.

Catholic Hispanics will never be republican, in American history the Catholic vote has only gone republican 5 times and that was without Hispanics, and those “good old days” are already gone.

ABSOLUTE BS! All that matters for a vast majority of hispanics (and blacks too) is whatever free goodies they can mooch off the government. That is it and guess which party promises them free goodies? You don't see a mass exodus of hispanics from the Democrats because of gay marriage do you?

And if Hispanics really were such "natural conservatives" then why is so many of the GOP embracing gay marriage? How is that going to help us in attracting latinos?

Free goodies. That is what it is all about. You want to attract latinos, then the GOP must become Democrat-lite.

The GOP bears so much responsibility for this illegal immigration mess. For decades they received bribes in the form of campaign contributions from the cheap labor lobby. Now it has come to this, yet they could care less what happens to the country. As long as they and their families are taken care of, they will happily live in their gated communities while the rest of us suffer from their policies.
