The GOP strategist says he tried to signal to the Romney campaign that it should change course, but they didn't follow his lead.
A lot has been said about why Mitt Romney lost the presidential election, from his failure to turn out more white working-class voters to his failure to win more of the Latino voters who did turn out. Republican strategist Karl Rove offered the latest take Thursday in remarks detailing how he tried, from his perch at an outside group forbidden by law from coordinating with the campaign, to signal to Romney's team that they should make changes in course and defend their candidate more fiercely.
"No election can be blamed on one single thing ... that's not the way politics works," Rove said during an Aspen Ideas Festival conversation with Atlantic Editor in Chief James Bennet. At core, however, "This was a tactical failure."

"If Romney had given me more of his millions to squander on ineffective advertising and crony consulting fees, he would have won."
What a worthless huckster.

Who cares at this point?
Why still all this navel gazing? It is not like the GOP will learn from their mistakes.
Is it racist to say that?
Par for the course these days..
The second rule of campaign club is DO NOT LISTEN TO KARL ROVE!
He lost mainly because the democrats beat the republicans in multivote voters, dead people voting, and cheating at the inner city polling places where Obama received 120% of the vote.
Rove is a left-wing republican.
But I thought he was “The Architect”?
at this point, what difference does it make?
Stuff it, Karl.
Yup,
Rove, Rubio,Coulter and the rest of the GOP will nominate another left-wing RINO in 2016 who will be trounced by Hillary and again 4 years after that.
3rd party now.
So what if it splits the vote. Can`t get any worse.

Gee, I don’t know.... maybe it was Romney’s support for abortion and gay marriage, along with him basically telling conservatives that he didn’t want our votes that cost him my vote.
All that money was IMHO, payoff to the lib MSM. They make a lot of money off of ads.
No more Bushes no more Clintons.
Yeah, KARL and ROVE
The fact is Romney ran a hope and change campaign just like Obama. Where were his plans? He talked about jobs but never explained what he would do to help.
He talked about raising tariffs on China but only if China didn't play by the rules. China can play by the rules, they are already stacked in China's favor.
Romney was already irradiated before he began to run. He had a liberal and a non-Christian past. You don't get much more irradiated than that.
Karl is desperate.
His big $$$ pro-Amnesty advertising campaign is having the opposite effect. People are calling their congressmen and telling them HELL NO! to Amnesty.
Sounds like The Architect’s donors will be asking for refunds on his consulting fees yet again.
Rove AND Romney imposed gay marriage
AND ObamaCARE/ROmneyCARE on America,
and THEN had the gaul to savage Gov. Palin,
making Obama pRes_ _ent in 2008.
They have turned American into Hell
and they should be cursed into Eternity.
3rd party now.
So what if it splits the vote. Can`t get any worse.
Amen to that. A strong conservative 3rd party would take off like wild fire.
