The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) scandal heated up today when Greg Roseman, Washington D.C. Metro Area Contracting Officer and Deputy Director of the IRS, invoked his constitutional Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination to avoid answering questions in front of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to determine if he fraudulently steered $500 million in IRS computer contracts to a $250,000 a year company fronting for IBM.

Here’s another one......

I may have to eat my hat, words and crow if Issa has been patient this whole time going for the big fish.

The other 5th amendment taker today involved crony contracts to a guy claiming war veteran when he broke a toe or something in a private military academy IN HIS TEENS, in high school.

Greg Roseman and Lois Lerner have the same right to take the Fifth Amendment when subpoenaed by Congress as mafia bosses. But if IBM takes the Fifth Amendment, the company will be banned from doing government business and lose $35 billion in annual revenue. With the IRS scandal now centered on Washington D.C., it is only a matter of time before bureaucrats and crony companies negotiate immunity agreements and then we will learn how far up will this scandal go in our nation’s leadership.

SHAZAM!!! Issa's methodical approach is really starting to bear fruit.

And, Mister Roseman simultaneously (and inadvertently) volunteered to be the centerpiece of dozens of political commercials for the upcoming -14 elections.

(Thanks Greg, ol buddy! BTW, mullet-like-hairsyles are sort of, um ... over.)

The Most Transparent Administration In Human History Sure Likes To Plead the Fifth,

“The way to make government responsible is to hold it accountable. The way to make government accountable is to make it transparent, so the American people can know exactly what decisions are being made, how they’re being well made, and whether their interests are being well served...For a long time now, there’s been too much secrecy in this city. The old rules said that if there was a defensible argument for not disclosing something to the American people, then it should not be disclosed. That era is now over, starting today.”

Back in those early, heady days, Obama pledged that transparency would be a “touchstone” of his administration. Touchstone - noun - “a standard or criterion by which something is judged or recognized.” Three-and-a-half years later, it’s ignore, deny, scoff, then plead the fifth. Now if only we could get the Vice President to avail himself of his sacred right to remain silent... I’ll leave you with this juicy Politico quote on Obama’s track record on FOIA requests:

“Obama is the sixth administration that’s been in office since I’ve been doing Freedom of Information Act work. … It’s kind of shocking to me to say this, but of the six, this administration is the worst on FOIA issues. The worst. There’s just no question about it,” said Katherine Meyer, a Washington lawyer who’s been filing FOIA cases since 1978. “This administration is raising one barrier after another. … It’s gotten to the point where I’m stunned — I’m really stunned.”

One could get the impression that the vast majority of our federal bureaucracy and elected federal officials are, shall we say, corrupt?

Perhaps that’s why nobody wants anyone to dig around, and why nothing tangible has been done so far.

Interesting dots that can be connected with this.

IBM was recently tossed off - at the $800 million point - of a failed multi-billion dollar systems development effort at DHS/Immigration

Then just a couple weeks ago the DHS CIO, Richard Spires, suddenly resigned. Personal reasons/spend more time with the family reasoning. But prior to DHS, Spires was the CIO at the ... IRS.

Then take a look at how much money IBM gave Obama in 2012 (someone posted a chart the other day here showing the disparity between where tech company $$$ went and IBM was a HUGE Obama donor).

Well, if the GOP shows me something, then they show me something.

So far, the only thing they have showed me is treachery.

If Issa someday gets even one notch on his stick, then great I say.

But words and promises mean nothing to me anymore. They are worth nothing. Action is the only thing that matters to me anymore.

Prove me wrong, GOP, go.

IBM is one of the most corrupt, filthy, antisemitic, criminal and communist ventures in any hemisphere you’d care to pick.

Provided the punch cards for the holocaust and was never caught.

Watching the rebroadcast of the hearings now on C-Span2 - Gowdy as usual is outstanding - “you think you’re disturbed now, read this transcript of the text messages - you’ll reach a whole other level of disturbia”......

thanks :)

it’s my third since I’ve been here. Used to have “I could tell you but then I’d have to kill you” but some people felt it was a threat..... So then I changed it but it wasn’t as zingy as before. Settled on this one. Think it’ll be around a long time.

How ironic that these 5th-taking IRS thugs won’t let you take the 5th on your tax return. They will send you to jail for doing that. If you don’t voluntarily incriminate yourself, they’ll do it for you. Now that’s Service!
