For as long as I can remember it has been a tradition that the Tour de France begins with a prologue held on the first Saturday of July.
Something changed this year, but the race goes on with a new and exciting route beginning with a specially staged prologue on the French island of Corsica in the Mediterranean Sea.

I am a real fan, I went to see the Tour live in ‘04 and about the only thing I’m wondering is who will be the first to get busted.

Wow - 2004; the ultimate paradox of the worst and best in tour history. Floyd was such a hero ...for a moment.
(oh, how I wanted to believe him)

This year the first stage is not really a “prologue” - a short time-trial - but an actual stage, 213 KM long. Although the first half of the stage has some hilly areas, it’s considered a sprinter’s stage.

I like Sagan for green and I'd like Tejay for yellow. He has all the tools. But is riding in support of a former tour winner.
Jim Ochowicz is a great tactician and he will have some interesting decisions to make with both Tejay and Cadel Evans on the same team. It might be that Tejay is seen as the apprentice and is willing to play a supporting role while he waits for his chance.
Then again we could see some pressure develop akin to Indurain and Delgado. Whether Tejay gets his head on a stage or two may be dictated by the GC after week one.
Who knows? As always, its gonna be fun.

I used to ride with George Mount back in high school, before either of us had ridden tubulars. I had an old (even then) straight gauge Emilio Bozzi Legnano with a brass Campagnolo derailleur, ca 1968. Beautiful workmanship.
T'was so very long ago when women never rode. Ah well.

"This year the first stage is not really a prologue ..." That's another first I've never heard of. How are they going to set the GC, I wonder?

You live in one of the great cycling environments in the country, so many good roads and good people. I rode there for lots of years.
