“This Gang of Eight bill delegates a lot of authority to the administration," he explained. "So, with my amendment, ‘Trust But Verify,’ we tried to get that authority back and keep it in Congress, where Congress would vote on whether the border is secure.
“Ultimately, whether or not these people become citizens, under the Gang of Eight bill, is up to the president,” Paul continued. “I don’t care if it’s a Republican president or a Democratic president. That’s too much power for one person to have."
"So, I would have kept that power with Congress and said Congress has to vote whether the border is secure before we keep moving forward. I would make even the initial process of giving work people visas dependent on a secure border," he stated.
With help from the Gang of Eight Republicans, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid succeeded in a motion to table, or kill, Paul’s amendment that would have secured the border before legalizing America’s at least 11 million illegal immigrants. Paul’s amendment also would have left the determination of whether the border was actually secured up to Congress rather than unelected bureaucrats and cabinet officials in the executive branch.

I wrote both Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson and my Congressman Doug Collins telling each that I EXPECTED a NO vote on ANY immigration issue brought before the SENATE, unless and until existing laws are being enforced, period.
I told them these illegal aliens deserve no special treatment and if they are ‘normalized’ ‘legalized’ or put on a “pathway to citizenship,” a YES vote by them is tantamount to treason against our sovereignty.
I predict, however, Chambliss (lame duck) and Isakson will turn traitor though and Collins will remain true.
I’m going to primary Isakson and give to his opponent. On Chambliss’ replacement, I’m NOT going to vote for anybody he endorses or for anybody that is a mainstream Republican.
Call congress. stop Amnesty bill. we don’t want any bill passed.
There are 6 billion 3rd world poor people in the world. So Reid these democrats’ solution to OUR problems is to pass a bill that will let them all into the USA. The Senators are evil villains. Reid is an evil villain.

I called all the reps, mailed them all , some were good, some never answered their phones .

Congress is terrified of being held responsible if something goes wrong. As a result, they've ceded most of their power to the Judicial and Executive Branches of the federal government.
By voluntarily surrendering their Constitutional authority, they've made it much easier for a tyrant to emerge.
Once again the GOP are right behind zero gathering what crumbs they can as he eats. We as a people have no representation with the GOP period

Rand needs to do this as the Chamber of Commerce is using vid clips of his flowery talk promoting amnesty, to get this bill passed.
Odd, I don’t recall anything being updated to ALLOW Congress to voluntarily surrender their Constitutional authority.
Seems, though, that since ~1913, We the People, have allowed the same to happen with nary a peep.
Fed. Reserve, gold confiscation, numerous agencies/departments spewing out countless regulations
And, worse yet, a ‘co-equal’ branch of gov’t, the courts, rubber-stamping every damn thing.

Get back to me when Rand Paul get’s honest about this issue and renounces his own Amnesty plan to provide Amnesty for 2 million Illegal Aliens each and every year based on the flawed idea of a Pro-Amnesty Congress “Certifying” the border secure. Also, when he comes out publically for enforcing the current laws, beefing up e-Verify.
At that point, I’ll pat Rand Paul on the back and support him.

They aren’t getting played; they’re willing participants in this charade who simply are using empty promises of border security as a convenient peg upon which to hang their hat in voting for so-called immigration reform.
Every GOP members who votes for this bill should face a real conservative in their next primary
