Deandre Poole will return to Florida Atlantic University after being placed on administrative leave.
Florida Atlantic University has reinstated an instructor who had students stomp on pieces of paper with "Jesus" written on them as part of a lesson.
The school announced Friday that 32-year-old Deandre Poole would return to teach summer classes, as well as the next academic year. The Palm Beach Post reports that he will only teach online through the rest of 2013 because of safety concerns. Officials said in March that he would be placed on paid administrative leave for safety reasons and to prevent disruption of the university's activities.
Jesus Stomp Just the Latest Bizarre Teachable Moment News of the lesson earlier this year provoked a strong reaction, including a request by Gov. Rick Scott that university officials investigate.
Poole has previously explained that the point of the lesson was to show the power of words, not denigrate Christianity.
This is comparable to requiring black students to write the “n” word across a picture of Martin Luther King, Jr., then to step on the picture. How could anyone possibly be offended by that? After all, it’s just a classroom exercise.
“Then, DEANDRE, will have no objection to his photo being blown up and stomped on by a ton of students-or might that be RACIST?”
You mean, “Then DEANDRE will have no objection to a picture of Mohammed blown up and stomped on by a ton of students.”
Guy’s a coward.
“Remember Sami Amin Al-Arian, the a Palestinian-American civil rights activist? Keep you eye on this man, Deandre Poole, could Mr Poole be a Community Organizer, a Communist? . . . “
And future President of the United States.
Right, Barack, or whatever your name really is?
Leftists like him are just starving for a knuckle sandwich.
Or writing the N-word on a piece of paper and handing it to him. That would be no more or less offensive than what this moron was asking Christian students to do.
Paula Deen out!
Deandre Poole in! (yes this is a dude named Deandre)
Someone should litter the campus with stomp notes—fill in the blank.
“Kind of hard to teach without a head.”
In the instant case, arguably the ‘perfesser’ isn’t using his head and would be able to perform at his usual work load and job efficiency with or without his head.
Indeed, since he is both a Democrat and a socialist, a case can be made that having a head could be a disadvantage. After all many Academentia sufferers derive little bebnfit from their heads and society derives even less benefit from such “minds”.
Saved it. Now to put the music Havala Nagila to it .... in a most spiritedly fashion.
Think about that while you’re job hunting. :)
You know for the professor’s safety. After all, we hear how the Islamist world “respects” their “prophet” Jesus. Maybe they would see it upon themselves to wage jihad on this professor for disrespecting a “Islamic prophet”.
Can we hold a “Stomp the Instructor” event?
Just to make a point.....
I wonder what would happen if one were to to enroll in his class, then bring a Koran to class, spit on it, and invite Muslims to do the same?
He look like a nice, pleasant person to be around. Oh wait, never mind.
If he had done a mooohammed stomp, he would have been fired. (and then killed by muslims)
I suspect the guy will pack and leave within a year. The problem is that kids will walk in and refer to him as the “Jesus-stomper” on a daily basis. When you get a reputation like this....it only makes you look foolish. You can’t even walk into the professor’s pub to sip a brew...without the other guys noting that the Jesus-stomper has arrived.
Thanks nickcarraway.
If Deandre Poole had used the “N” word in class - and had all his students use the “N” word - as a ‘lesson’ - he would be just as quickly returned to Florida Atlantic University. Right? No double standard, right?
Hey you New York Times suck-ups... am I right or what?
