Russia Rejects US Demand for Snowden's Extradition

MOSCOW — Russia's foreign minister has rejected U.S. demands to extradite National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden, who has apparently stopped in Moscow while trying to evade U.S. justice.

Sergey Lavrov said that Snowden hasn't crossed the Russian border and insisted that Russia has nothing to do with him, his relations with U.S. justice or his travel plans.

Speaking at a news conference Tuesday, he angrily lashed out at the U.S. demands for the extradition and warnings of negative consequences if Moscow fails to comply.

Lavrov said that accusing Russia of "violation of U.S. laws and even some sort of conspiracy" with regard to Snowden is "absolutely ungrounded and unacceptable."

...

Edward Snowden's stop-and-start flight across the globe appeared to stall in Moscow as the United States ratcheted up pressure to hand over the National Security Agency leaker who had seemed on his way to Ecuador to seek asylum.

In Ecuador's most extensive statement about the case, the foreign minister hailed Snowden on Monday as "a man attempting to bring light and transparency to facts that affect everyone's fundamental liberties."

The decision whether to grant Snowden the asylum he has requested is a choice between "betraying the citizens of the world or betraying certain powerful elites in a specific country," Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino told reporters while visiting Vietnam.

Hey, you’re not alone. To date I have been called a traitor to my country, unpatriotic, an Obama supporter, an Axlerod lackey, every schoolyard name you can think of and more. We won’t even get into the pix I get posted about me. Hell, I had one 2 days ago jump me for making things political ON FR...HELLO? It’s what FR IS!

For some reason, psuedocons (who demonstrate deserving that title by their actions) like to spout liberal dogma/talking points, call it conservatism and be ‘seen’ as being conservative.

Conservatism isn’t some deep philosophy. It’s basic. There is a right and a wrong, regardless of what some jacked up bunch of yahoos in DC determine ‘law’ to be.

But that simple truth aside, that does not stop the wannabee ‘hyperpatriots’ from exposing their liberalism at every opportunity and shouting ‘Look how big bad American I am!”

Pathetic idiots with sub 20 political IQs.
Bottom line: Conservatives cried for someone on the inside to expose the BS. Snowden did. Now some of those ‘conservatives’ scream TRAITOR! guaranteeing no one will ever make that mistake again. And showing why the ‘modern conservative’ cannot and should not be trusted.

Until FR and other genuinely conservative websites culls the wheat from the chaffe, it will only get worse.

I remember when this first broke and the GOP were silent but as the day progressed I saw more and more of the GOP get to the camera and shout traitor, high school drop out.

They followed Obama and Pelosi's lead...

This guy steps up and tells America they're traitorous government is bugging, wiretapping, monitoring and spying upon them and the leftist develop their script, labeling Snowden as the traitor...

Writers for the tonight show couldn't make this s stuff up.

Because we’ve reached the point in this country that one has to choose the lesser of two traitors. There is none righteous, no not one. Or at least the righteous are extremely heavily out-propagandized.

A partial answer is that a lot of people here are not at all Conservative and they like big government just fine. A little intrusion from the NSA is OK with such folks.

Absolutely!

Ya got tens of millions on the fat bloated government payroll/pensions...These types are *everywhere*, including right here.

“Because we’ve reached the point in this country that one has to choose the lesser of two traitors.”

The direct result of people supposedly on the political right DEMANDING we vote for the lesser of two evils every election and having screaming fits when some refuse to help them infuse yet more evil into politics.

Obama doesn't want to pick a fight with Putin, he could snap obama in half like a twig. It's pretty sad when the Russians have become more conservative than their largest former adversary, and have to lecture the west about the evils of communism.

I understand that, from Hussein’s playpals, but there seems to be a large group of people here who unquestionably use that term to describe Snowden, and I’m trying to understand why.

I have observed there is a small, but very vocal group.

I don’t understand why Russian hasn’t “disappeared” Soros. He’s not a government leader. Well, not officially anyway.

I've wondered the same about London and several other countries...even the US for that matter.

In 1992 Soros broke the Bank of England. Soros is hated literally around the world. Nations are just play things to him.

Why am I rooting for a traitor?

So is he a traitor if his only intent was blowing the lid on the government's rogue spying and watching of citizens in total disregard of the 4th amendment? I think I would reserve judment before making accusations like that.

That is unless you like being spied on. Geesh!!!!

If he’s a “traitor”, then the Founding Fathers were “traitors.”

“Why am I rooting for a traitor?”

Because at some level you have doubts that Snowden’s actions were treason. Perhaps Snowden betrayed the traitors?

Putin will be playing with the big-eared doofus like a kitten with a ball of string for the next 3 1/2 years.

Someone who is better at Photoshop than me needs to have some fun with this.

Infiltration has been the downfall of this forum. Not much has been done to stop them, even though they’re easily identifiable. I’m guessing the admins have been infiltrated as well.

Wow, that’s perfect.

Too bad no one in the Obama kneepad-wearing entertainment business would dare to do it.
