It would bea real shame if something happened to Karzai.
Taliban claim attack on presidential palace and say also targeting nearby Afghanistan defence ministry, other buildings
It would be one less thorn in obama’s side . . . .
Well, those peace talks with the Taliban are underway I see.
Karzai’s opposition to the peace talks with the Taliban may not matter much longer.

Kabul attack update: Likely 2 insurgents in stand-off with security forces. Over 15 blasts happened, gunfire still underway.
This changes my indifference to the whole thing: According to the BBC, US personnel from “a nearby CIA station” are involved in the firefight.
Is this Kabul ‘13 or Tet ‘68?

A BBC correspondent says the assailants are embroiled in clashes with President Hamid Karzai's bodyguards, as well as US personnel from the nearby CIA station.
Just a few days ago, it was reported that the Obama administration was negotiating directly with Karzai’s opposition and cutting him out of the loop.
They should send Kerry out to talk to the insurgent attackers. It’s probably just a misunderstanding on their part. He’ll sit down with them and straighten things out.
the palace is literally around a corner from the embassy and ISAF hq...and an allegedly ‘secret’ CIA compound...how the hell they got in as far as the gate of the palace is beyond me
(well, actually I’ve been saying since 2010 when DoS supported Karzai kicking out the ex-pat security contractors that all it was going to take was a family member kidnapping and the TB would be able to drive a VBIED right past the checkpoints at Massoud circle since they were all manned by LN’s)
Karzai not invited to participate by Obama = signal to Taliban that he wouldn’t be against an attack on him.
[light bulb over head]
Obama is on the side of the people who we have fought for 11 years.
Dead betrayed seals, support for al Queda, withdrawals without victory. Kind of makes you wonder what our military is being asked to honor.
I’m still waiting to see Obama sit down with them without preconditions.
I’m still waiting to see Obama sit down with them without preconditions.
Karzai is a thorn in all our sides.Corrupt, two faced SOB.
