In advance of a critical vote Monday on a border security deal offered by Republican Sens. Bob Coker and John Hoeven, the president of the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement union urged senators to vote no on the amendment.
National ICE Council President Chris Crane issued an aggressive statement calling on lawmakers to vote no on the amendment to the Senates immigration reform bill and called out Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio for misleading law enforcement on promises of more interior enforcement.
Senator Corker a lead sponsor of the 1,200 page amendment being voted on today has admitted that needed interior enforcement provisions are absent. Senator Rubio, who promised ICE officers and Sheriffs that he would take steps to repair the bills provisions that gut interior enforcement, has abandoned that commitment, Crane said. He directly misled law enforcement officers.

A 1200 page amendment?
WTF?
This appears to be an attempt to rally support for Rubio because a union guy is opposing him....am I off base?
Does the ICE union oppose the ENTIRE bill or just this amendment?
Doubt the money is coming from GOPe
My guess is he has his hands in Saudi pockets and that is why he had a cow and attacked Michelle Bachmann when she tried to bring an investigation on the muslim brotherhood infiltrating government.
I know a lot of people are disappointed in Rubio and they have reason to be...he said all the right things to get where he is today, but he is no more than a McPain in real life...sorry but we have been screwed again....my money is on Cruz or Rand....
And yet Cruz and Rand are for legalization as well, though they quibble with the details of this bill.
We’re beyond screwed.

Im being a bit more cautious and including a few who, like the co-sponsors of the Corker plan, will probably vote for the immigration bill, but should be called anyway.
Call them and tell them to oppose the Corker amendment (yes, tell Bob Corker) and to oppose the immigration legislation.

First, as to a union guy opposing Rubio - no, it isn’t about THAT. Cris Crane and the ICE union are government employees that truly oppose illegal immigration and oppose this bill. They are angry that Obama won’t let them enforce current law, yet that is what they were hired and trained to do. To make matters worse, along comes this disastrous monstrosity bill. All he’s saying about Rubio is that Rubio met with them and looked them in the eye and lied.
And about the amendment being such a huge number of pages - according to Rush the day this amendment was put forward for consideration by Corker and Hoeven, Harry Reid changed the situation by making the amendment become the entire bill. Corker and Hoeven worked with the gang of eight to essentially have the bill re-written to incorporate their original amendment plus some other stuff the gang of eight and Obama wanted kept over from their original, negotiated bill, the two things merged and became THE BILL.
That’s why the amendment is now being said to be 1200 pages long, but that’s a misspeak because the amendment, with additions from the original bill, has now become THE BILL.
Obviously, an opportunist and not a conservative.
Ha ha, Cruz “quibbles with the details of the bill” but is for legalization is a lie merrily, happily, casually repeated by the one who posted it to you, HL27. Has been refuted off the charts, but who cares, right, when you can enter every thread that mentions Ted Cruz and lie. It’s a way of life that’s just so...so...well...NOBLE./sarc
It might come close to describing Rand. Rand wants the Congress to “certify that the border is secure” instead of Napalitano certifying it. Of course who controls Congress, both Senate and House, would make some difference, but Rand ignores that. Even so, no matter which party controlled those, we still couldn’t trust them. Look what they are doing to us now.
After that, then Rand is fine with amnesty.
I hate the word “misled”. Call a spade a spade and call it a LIE. He’s no better than obama.
"I ... will be the GOP's NBC for criminal illegals."
Rubio has reduced himself to nothing more than a mouthpiece for Chuckie Schumer. What a pathetic human being he has become. He will fit right in once he switches parties.
Stop trolling from thread to thread calling me a liar! There are videos online, which I’ve posted in my defense of your baseless accusations previously, where Cruz, who has also readily said he’s for “immigration reform” advocates “border security first”, whereby first refers to before subsequently following with legalization.
Ok, let me explain what is happening. The democrats are pushing immigration reform. The demoncrats are trying to push the gop into a position where, immigration reform passes which is a loser for the gop or the gop stops immigration reform which loses the hispanic vote which also is a loser for the gop.
The gop sees what the demoncrats are trying to do. Their only path out of the demoncrat box is this. Pretend to want reasonable immigration reform, make the negotiations with the demoncrats long, drawn out, and complicated and eventually have the bill fail somewhere along the line with the blame to be placed on both parties.
So up steps Marco Rubio to try to present a hispanic friendly face with a reasonable republican proposal and to negotiate with the democrats in good faith but with a bill that will eventually fail along the way.
I think MR and the gop is in a pretty tough position on this one but I think MR and the gop are doing a pretty good job of executing the game plan..
And I will add that I think your knee jerk, hyperbolic, rhetoric to be not helpful. It is straight forward and simple minded when in politics nothing is simple or straight forward.
Most people are familiar with office politics where innuendo, manipulation, lying, backstabbing and false rumors reign supreme.
IT IS THE SAME WITH NATIONAL POLITICS ONLY MUCH MUCH WORSE.
Oh and for you Palin fans, she is out of her league when trying to play this game.
Rand wants the Congress to certify that the border is secure
*************************************
It SHOULD be the majority of the legislatures and Governors of the four southern border States that determine if their borders are secured.
Forty-six States represented in Congress don’t have to deal with the crime and expense that CA, AZ, NM and TX have to combat as a result of illegals crossing the border.
I might tend to agree with you to a great extent but I’m not Jim. There is also a new wind which needs to blow which needs to tell the people the truth as is thought by that individual. I am not that individual but think Sarah too has been telling a truth and truths. I compliment you for speaking your mind and say Thanks.
Hoeven is from ND, not NE (as much as it pains me to admit it).
You know what? I don't care if this is some sort of Game.
I find it disgusting that the opposition says what they want, and they do it, whether it is Constitutional or not, right or wrong (mostly wrong), and they do it without apology while the allegedly conservative(-ish) fraction of the Congress doesn't have the balls to stand up for what is right and Constitutional.
I used to think Obama's supposed 45% support was a lie, but not any more---because the people he benefits with his illegal crap know he is standing up for them (even though it will hurt them in the end).
Why in the Hell can't our people simply go out there, all games aside, and just say "NO, this isn't right, it isn't going to solve anything, it's going to cost more than we could ever afford, and it is the wrong thing to do.", instead of sugarcoat it for the masses, suck up to the opposition, and twist their own heads off trying to kiss every ass on the planet?
What is so awful about just being right and standing on principle?
Does anyone think the Hispanics legally here (often, their families for a couple of hundred years) are in favor of shake-and-baking hordes of criminal invaders--people they are going to get lumped in with? Really? In a culture where "being a man" is important, still, the GOP wusses out? Or even gives the impression of it?
The STUPID Party is right.
No wonder the Democrats treat the GOP with contempt.
Frankly, most alleged Conservatives have spent so much time trying to be nice, they've fallen into the same trap. Call a spade a spade, and quit compromising our country away.
