HONG KONG — The Hong Kong government announced on Sunday afternoon that it had allowed the departure from its territory of Edward J. Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor who has acknowledged disclosing classified documents about United States government surveillance of Internet and telephone communications around the world. snip

The Aeroflot agent said that Mr. Snowden is traveling with one other person, with the surname Harrison, but the agent declined to release the other traveler’s first name, saying that she did not have the authorization to do so. The closest adviser to Julian Assange, who orchestrated the release of the Wikileaks diplomatic cables three years ago, is named Sarah Harrison, prompting speculation that she was the Harrison on the flight with Mr. Snowden.

Agreed. Also, a Patriot doesn’t seek refuge within the enemy’s loving arms. This guy is acting like a coward.

Yes, God Speed, Edward, let’s exposé our successes against Russia and Cuba.

Snowden's NOT touching down in North Korea or Iran? What's with that? /s

That said before the IRS horror - before the targeting of American citizens because they were conservative by the IRS, Homeland Security, FBI, EPA etc... I would have been outraged by Snowden's antics.

Now?

He has a point.

When American citizens are bunched in with radical Muslims because we're Christian - or care about the Constitution - it puts us on the side of Snowden... Bad move by the fools in our 'intelligence' systems.

Problem is that he’s starting to share real national security information with this country’s enemies China and Russia in exchange for safety.

Why is Russia the enemy? The Cold War is over.

We had good relations with Imperial Russia...I see today’s Russia as no different. We have our interests, they have theirs’, they are not incompatible.

But stupid actions, like our interfering in Kosovo, forever ruined the chances for Russia to trust us.

Sounds like a job for:

I never trusted government prior to Snowden blowing the whistle...I’m talking all the way down to the DMV level..

Now?

Well maybe a few million more Americans will wake up out of their deep mental sleep.

We’ve had totally corrupt and incompetent leadership for decades...Not just the past 4 years.

He will always be a man on the run as he can't count on his haven countries always being on the outs with the U.S. or their corrupt regimes not being bribed to render him to justice.

True.

Can we count on the US government not deciding to bring us all to "justice" for the crime of being conservative?

All Snowden did was lower the odds a little and push out the time-table a bit.

I really don’t know what to think
one way or the other. I would rather
he come home and face the music.
He first runs to China then Moscow?
I have an uneasy feeling about
this in general.

I would rather he come home and face the music.

Me too!

But the government would not ever run the risk of prosecuting him in an open court. Imagine what the discovery process would show!

No, he'd drop dead in the street after a couple drinks, or his car would burst into flames and crash before that could ever be allowed to happen.

Julian Assange wants those documents...and the publicity...he has stated without world attention his plans and goals would not be heard since his “stuff” is banned in so many countries.

Snowden either is Assanges “Puppet” from the get go...or he’s become one now. Either/or Assange can’t do much with Wikileaks where he sits guarded at the Embassy .

This way Assaunge is starring in Snowdens plight...He has the stage he seeks. It’s his arrangements for Snowden...His money finincing this...and his Legal Council escorting Snowden.

Could explain why Snowdens employment at agencies was so brief....they already know the Resume he used to pass security clearances was tweaked, and that company is under investigation now...finding they had a history of doing forgin and tweaking resumes....

I believe he’s a part of Assanges Empire to influence Nation Leaders decision’s as we have seen Assange do in the past..(Egypt) and Snowdens releases are exactly the same style Assange uses.....just before or during meetings and events between nation leaders.

Interesting is Snowden’s supposed Revealing UK’s Security program would be a poke ‘by Assange’ more than Snowden...for preventing Assange from leaving the Ecuador Embassy in London..been there almost a year and he wants out! So far his work to be released has failed...interesting too is his lastes attempt failed not long ago.

I wouldn’t be surprised, for Assanges help, Snowden had to agree to using Documents concerning UK’s Security Program...Snowden had nothing to gain by doing so.

How about coming home and face
the music. He made a choice
to expose this. I would have more
respect for him.

Assange is in control of things..not Snowden...And he’s now got the Worlds attention playing in this game of Espionage...he said before ,since his stuff is banned in so many places......that in order to further his goals and plans to influence Government decisions he has to have world attention....Snowden gave him, or is being used buy Assange to gain that attention..It’s working.

Me too.

If it’s truly that important, it’s worth taking the lumps for doing, even if that means certain death.

And under obama’s regime, that is in all probability exactly what it means.

Easier to say for a jaded 60 something hiding behind his keyboard than a 20 something caught in the arc-lights, I suppose.

Fair enough. However running
off to China and Russia does not
look good. What do we really
know? What information is he passing
on? This really concerns me.
China and Russia are not helping
him out of the goodness of their hearts.
They want something out of this.
I am not calling him a traitor, but
I am not calling him a patriot either.

He needs to go someplace that won't instantly turn him over to US authorities.

He needs to go someplace that is big enough to not be muscled into turning him over to US Authorities.

That rather limits his options.

You are not alone in your concerns....

Twittchy comments coming in....:

...”Any conflicted feelings among Snowden fans that he’s doing a propaganda favor here for more intrusive/repressive regimes than U.S.?”

Allahpundit (@allahpundit) June 23, 2013

...”So Edward Snowden has now fled to… Russia? Didn’t he say stuff about not wanting to live in a country that spied on its own? Still a hero?”

Tom Eastman (@tveastman) June 23, 2013

Left Hong Kong by way of Moscow. There are reports that he will next head to Cuba and then Venezuela. .....What a ”grand tour of U.S. adversaries,” huh?

Hummmmm @MiriamElder.................................. Vans belonging to ‘Russian presidential administration’ waiting by Aeroflot jets.

Tracy Jeffords (@TracyJeffords) June 23, 2013

Hmm, indeed.....Glenn Greenwald is bitterly clinging to hero status.

@moelane ......Well, two things are clear. (1) Snowden’s crisis of conscience about oppressive gov’t doesn’t extend to other countries—

And in a snark nutshell:

Looks like #Snowden is playing Communist country pinball. #NSA—
