A registered sex offender, released from jail less than a month ago, has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of an 8-year-old Florida girl abducted while shopping with her mother on Friday night.
The body of Charish Perriwinkle was found in front of Highlands Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday morning after a frantic search. Donald James Smith of Jacksonville was taken into custody after police cornered his white van on Interstate 95. He had only been released from jail on May 31 after serving 438 days on felony charges of child abuse and unlawful impersonation of a public employee.ail on Facebook

When I first heard about this story I thought this child was kidnapped from Walmart, a stranger abduction, but then finding out that this child wasn’t really abducted, her idiot mother handed her over to a convicted sex offender who was just let out in May, unbelievable..this guy just happened to be looking around different stores trying to find someone stupid enough to hand over their kid to him and he finally found one..didnt this woman think it was strange that he wanted to take her 8 year old daughter to go get some “burgers” I mean COME ON that is the oldest trick in the book but then I remember, this woman is a moron..I just feel so horrible for this poor child..the second he took her away to get those “burgers” she was dead, she stood no chance

That description of the 8-year-old girl, who was abducted Friday from a Walmart and later killed, appears in court documents about a custody dispute between Charish’s parents, who were not married.
The dispute ended in 2010 when Duval County Judge Linda McCallum granted shared responsibility between Reyne Perriwinkle and Billy Jarreau, but with the mother keeping primary custody.
Charish moved with her mother and her mother’s boyfriend from small home to small home and spent at least some time as an infant living with her mother in a homeless shelter, the records show.
Charish had several stepsiblings, including two stepsisters from the mother and boyfriend.
Perriwinkle’s mother met Smith at a Dollar General on Edgewood Avenue West on Friday night, Williams said. Perriwinkle’s two siblings, 4 and 5 years old, were with the family at the time. Smith offered to buy food and clothes for Perriwinkle’s family at the nearby Walmart, Williams said.
Sorry, everyone, but this was not stupidity on the part of the mother. Even as a ten year old babysitter I knew better. The mother is a drunk or a junkie who sold her child.
Not step siblings. Doesn’t anyone know anything anymore. They were her half siblings, they had the same mother. A step sibling has no biological relationship to you.
I wonder if this sick pervert saw a bumper sticker on the family car, overheard a conversation, etc. to get “inside” the family. Could pretend he was a member of her church, teacher at the school, etc. and knew they were having hard times and would like to help.

This incident, apart from the unthinkable act of turning one’s child over to a stranger, ought to give some indication of just how a pedophile’s mind works. He knew he’d be identified; he knew he’d be on CCTV; he knew the police would be investigating every known pedo in the city (and he had just reported himself) and he knew there would be a major hue-and-cry for him and his easily-identifiable van. YET HE DID IT JUST THE SAME!!! These monsters are incorrigible. You might reform them with a shotgun, but I don’t think there’s any other way.
