LAKELAND -- The Polk County Sheriffs office is on the hunt for a man who they say robbed a store using a soda can.
Kenny K. Lott Jr., 22, is wanted for the armed robbery, which happened Thursday at 12:45 p.m. at the Family Touch Super Stop Store on W. Memorial Boulevard in Lakeland.
Deputies said Lott battered the clerk with a soda can, took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene.
He jumped on the counter and he hit (me) with the Pepsi can on my forehead and he took all the money and ran away, said the clerk, who didnt want to be identified.
She told us it could have been because she wouldn't sell him beer and cigarettes. I just asked him, do you have I-D with you? Thats it., she said. He told me, no I dont have any I-D. So I told him, I dont give you the beer because I need I-D. Its the rules.
The store handed over surveillance video to deputies of the incident. In it, you can see the shirtless suspect, paying for the soda, just before jumping over the counter and attacking the clerk.
I shouted when he jumped on the counter. I shouted and I ran away in the store, the clerk said.
Lott was already wanted for violation of probation on a charge of strong-armed robbery.
He is described as a black man who stands 5'7" and weighs 160 pounds. He is believed to be in a stolen black 2005 Chevrolet Impala with Florida tags I810TW.
There goes the "unarmed" part of the narrative for Skittles the weekend before opening arguments.
Background checks before we can buy a can of soda?
Please don't give mayor Doomberg any ideas.

We must do something confront this problem of unregistered assault coke cans.
Please don’t give mayor Doomberg any ideas.
So this is why Bloomie wants to ban soda
Let's not get all absurd and crazy over this one instance. Should suffice to just require background checks for Pepsi. If Coke and Sprite become an issue, we can expand the law later. Perhaps it's just diet Pepsi... the more constrained the Soda Background Check Law (SBCL) can be, the more freedom we the people can retain.
At least he didn’t use a high powered beer bottle.
correction: unlicensed pepsi assault cans.
If we followed Bloomberg’s advice on banning sugary beverages, we wouldn’t have this grave national crisis.
And the Watermelon Arizona drink comes in a bigger can....too
Coke Classic bump
Robberies, assaults and things go better with Coke.
Well, my cousin could weild a mean can of Coke in Louisiana. He would shake it up and throw it around and then open it. The geyser of Coke was a sight to behold.
He was packin a 6-pack ???
Bloomberg was right!
Or thank god he didn't use one of the dreaded Hi-Capacity Magazines.
I suspect that Bernie and his boy Friday are scratching some words from their opening statement — including “unarmed ... iced tea ... can of”.
If I’m O’Mara that’s where this story comes in — along with the picture of Zimmerman’s head injuries and the Watermelon juice can on the yellow tarp with what appears to be red fluid below it that could be either watermelon juice or blood or both.
