When Regal Entertainment Group in April blamed ObamaCare for the fact that it was cutting some of its workers hours, backers of the law mounted a furious backlash against the theater chain, among other things filling its Facebook page with boycott threats. Greed and selfishness make me sick, one of them said. [snip]
Yet while private companies are getting all this unwelcome and hostile attention, local governments across the country have been quietly doing exactly the same thing cutting part-time hours specifically so they can skirt ObamaCares costly employer mandate, while complaining about the law in some of the harshest terms anyone has uttered in public.

Consequences flow, though we do not wish it so.
Obama is about everything America isn’t. If he lowers the hours that require mandatory Obamacare coverage businesses will just close down. His end game, the destruction of capitalism which made the United States the dominant power in the world. Thie man is not U.S. friendly
The workforce size and number of hours worked should not apply to governmental entities as a reason for exemption from Obamacare.
Had to spend 3 days in the hospital due to abdominal pain from a bad fall. NO pillow provided, food consisted of real nasty grease floating on top broth, enough salt to gag a horse, and blue bunny popcicle and jello that tasted of chems. Tea and Juice were the only things I could tolerate. ONLY GENERIC DRUGS TOO! I’m the side effect queen, if it says GI, muscle or vision, I will react bad to them. This is the new side effect riddled drug my Endo wants me on. I hate scare tactics, I know the risk of falls, had a lot of them in the past 2 years due to vertigo and Meniere’s. ALSO HATE THE DRUG INDUCED IBS THAT GO WITH THEM.

Local governments, i.e., city councils, mayors, aldermans, ward representatives, county/parish governments, have all been rather quiet throughout the whole debacle that begat Obamacare, have they not?
Now, because of their silence, they are feeling that, ahem, “plastic banana” getting closer to each of their dear, sweet, coveted, ahem, “seats of power”.
And, of course, where will they look to attempt to cover all of those monetary losses?
THE INHABITANTS OF THEIR “SHIRE”.
Look out for increased ‘fees’, ‘license costs’, ‘tax millages’, and other ‘franchise fees’ to appear.
A good friend of mine who works in the health care industry is fond of saying
“If you think health care is expensive now, wait until it’s free”
In today’s local rag.
Kern County doesn’t have a choice about the Affordable Care Act.
“You must comply with this law or you must pay a penalty,” County Administrative Officer Nilon told the Board of Supervisors Tuesday.
A large percentage of county extra help are retired county employees, not counting the fire dept since they use young guys.
Those retired extra help people already have insurance.
Yes I live in Bakersfield, at one time was a county employee, hubby is retired county employee, and we have lots of retired county employee friends.
