A Glennville man was cited for disorderly conduct June 11 after allegedly brandishing an AK-47 assault rifle at a Hinesville basketball court during a dispute over a foul call.
Hinesville police were dispatched to the Liberty County Recreation Department basketball courts after receiving a report that a man had pulled an AK-47 out of the trunk of his car and threatened another man with it.
When police arrived, they found the area very crowded, according to the report. They were told that the man who had produced the gun was sitting on the bleachers.
Police made contact with the man, identified as Sidney Hall, 25, of Glennville. According to the report, Hall told police he had gotten into an argument with another man during a basketball game. Hall said the other man was much larger than him and he was concerned for his safety, so he went to his vehicle, pulled out the AK-47 and said, I have a gun, and I'm not afraid of you! Hall told police that he then put the gun back in his car and went to sit on the bleachers, according to the report.

The Heat should take note.
Not a good idea. Still, the other guy never even saw the gun, so it would be hard to claim he brandished and made a direct threat to the guy.
Sounds like a yahoo, the way the gun was kept up, if the report is accurate.
You would think that the officer would know that the first thing you do when you pick up a weapon is make sure it's on safe, dropped the magazine, and pull the charging handle back and visually inspect the bore to double check it's not loaded.
Glennville? Hinesville?

Wonder if it is the man I met thirty four years who had smuggled a case of full auto AKs into the US?
He used one to kill his wife’s lover, and when I met him,(He was traveling with an old Air Force buddy) he had just gotten out of prison.

The Big Lebowski.
“No autopsy, no foul.”

The article makes me wonder if the police messed up and arrested the guy to cover their errors.
It was a police officer that fired the rifle.
