WASHINGTON, DC U.S. Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) introduced two amendments to protect the religious liberties of military service members, both of which passed last week in the Senate Armed Services Committees consideration of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Texas ping!
Lets hope they can maintian the battle they will be under from other “GOP’ERS”!
I know Cruz is tenacious and I hope he prevails on this important decision for our troops!
A beacon of light
He is THE conservative on the Hill. From freshman to the bannerman of anti-establishmentarianism in no time at all.
Bump that!
*sigh* We already HAVE an amendment to protect religuous liberties. It’s the FIRST Amendment! Why are we makung more laws when we just need to enforce the ones we have???
That's a good question that needs to be examined, answered, and corrected. It would seem to me it takes a lot less time, money, and energy to enforce existing law that go through the legislative process all over again.
The path of least resistance is, as you say, enforcing existing law. Maybe someone smarter than I can offer explanations and solutions.
Thank you Ted Cruz and Mike Lee.
You are correct sir. I have heard it said, the more corrupt a country is, the more laws it has.
I hope Senator Cornyn either gets the message or gets the boot next election.
Me, too! We need more like Cruz!
Next election, when Dewhurst and Dan Patrick start coming around wooing the conservatives, remember the horrible way they campaigned against Cruz and the cheap shots they took trying to keep Cruz out of this position.
Even with the left throwing the kitchen sink against Cruz... it is nothing compared to what I heard on the Radio from “our” side.
I'm doing (and will do) my part...for either.
I’ll be doing my part as well. No more RINOS for me. KBH was RINO #1 for too many years.
'Appropriately' as defined by whom? Ia it the individual service heads? Then isn't what they've been doing that motivated this piece of legislation? Is it the local commanders? Can some base CO decide that displaying a crucifix or a nativity is an inappropriate expression of religious faith while others say it's OK? Is it the individual? What if Nidal Hassan claimed that shooting 45 people was an appropriate expression of his Muslim faith? Would that have been a defense in his court martial? I applaud the effort but there are too many loopholes in it. It needs to be tightened up some before being enacted.
Thank God for these 2 guys. I like how they both handle themselves. Not run to the camera to get out the first talking points spin like McCain does. I like their replies. Thoughtful and courageous. I pray they continue only to become better in standing up. It takes a strong person to withstand what is thrown at them in Washington, D.C. by the media and the special interests groups that do play with racial and hate games.
I have been pleasantly surprised that Cruz sticks to his guns
and doesn’t back down. That is SO rare nowadays in DC! I haven’t
seen that much of Lee, but he sounds like a real conservative, too!
I, too, hope they continue to shake things up good! :)
Cruz and Lee are the best senators!
