Edward Snowden blames Obama By: Tal Kopan June 17, 2013 11:39 AM EDT
NSA leaker Edward Snowden criticized President Barack Obama for empty promises in an online Q-and-A on Monday, saying the presidents alleged failings influenced his decision to release the secret information on surveillance.
Obamas campaign promises and election gave me faith that he would lead us toward fixing the problems he outlined in his quest for votes. Many Americans felt similarly. Unfortunately, shortly after assuming power, he closed the door on investigating systemic violations of law, deepened and expanded several abusive programs, and refused to spend the political capital to end the kind of human rights violations like we see in Guantanamo, where men still sit without charge, Snowden said in a response to a question from a commenter on The Guardians website.
Snowden was responding to this question: Why did you wait to release the documents if you said you wanted to tell the world about the NSA programs since before Obama became president?
Snowden also said the U.S. would not be able to silence him.
All I can say right now is the US Government is not going to be able to cover this up by jailing or murdering me. Truth is coming, and it cannot be stopped, Snowden said when asked by Guardian reporter Glenn Greenwald what would happen to the information he possessed if something happened to him.
He defended his decision to flee to Hong Kong, claiming the U.S. government did what he expected when the story came out and ruined his chance of a fair trial.
First, the US Government, just as they did with other whistleblowers, immediately and predictably destroyed any possibility of a fair trial at home....

“...Like my brother says - Women vote like they drive: They think they’re going forward but instead hit reverse. Doh!....”
Now you know why the Founding Fathers never gave them the vote to begin with as they knew that they would vote “emotions and security” over “substance and freedom” almost every time.
Snowden can blame no one but Snowden.
They are de facto prisoners of war, they get freedom the week after Al-Qaida signs the surrender document.
Unless they violated the Geneva Conventions, (which in most cases they did) in which case they are war criminals and should be tried and shot quickly.
If Snowden had done the governments version of whistleblowing I doubt we’d have heard of him - or that he would still be alive. The FedGov is not following the rule of law anymore.
The 4th amendment is VERY clear and it trumps any make-believe laws. I have been reflecting on whether, if I thought if I saw a clear violation of the constitution, would I have had the guts to do anything about it. I honestly would not like to end up dead or in a SuperMax 8x10 foot cell seeing light through a tiny sliver of a window up by the ceiling for the rest of my life. I’d say what he did is a hell of a lot braver than any of us keyboard warriors are doing. This in no ‘game’ he is playing - this is your life on the line. Nothing funny about it.
Going to Hong Kong was very, very clever of him. He’s no dope. It’s the only place they will have a hard time getting him. I think the man is playing chess, not checkers, which is p.o.’ing a bunch of people! Seeing Lindsey Graham having a moment of homo anger is always worth a good laugh! His panties are all up in a bunch (what a sissy).
Also, this totally destroys Obama’s ‘cred’ for his cult followers. This is helping to make that Kenyan a very lame duck.
So there’s that too.
Personally someone has to starting fighting this beast we’ve made or we’re all done for.
OK. He’s a flake. The Right now has a useful idiot, on top of all the useless idiots in public office.
Snowden is a human being with some bad leftist ideas in his head and probably a bit immature.
Notice I said a human being.
Humans make mistakes and this thing he did involves some legal consequences which I’m not sure he’s fully realizing.
But the knowledge he’s giving us does unmask what our government in general and the Obama Administration in particular really do behind the public facade they put on to hustle the average (low information) person out there.
A lot of Communists who claimed loyalty to Stalin ended up doing hard time in labor camps when they were purged and still
proclaimed they loyalty as prisoners.
They were a lot crazier that this guy is in my opinion.
Good points....
Snowed or Obama....scary on this issue so many siding w Obama
Not a dry seat in the house.
Who cares how long Snowden's worked for his former Slithering Sell-Out of an employer? How long has John McCain "worked" in the Senate and what has HE accomplished?? What has 0dinga "accomplished"? At least Snowden's loyalty is where it should be.
So for all Snowden's so-called "crying," with his single act of exposing the ugly truth that treacherous members of BOTH parties would rather not have us know, he's already demonstrated more love of country and accomplished more than 400 or so members of Congress. For that he gets my gratitude and kudos.
Everyone in my family is conservative except guess who? My mother, aunts, sisters, every election like clockwork: “I don’t trust that guy, the other guy is better looking.” They don’t care, they are very blatant about it as if they can’t understand why men don’t base a candidate on looks as well. It’s a form of insanity, it really is. It’s why teen girls go crazy over pretty boy pop stars even though the music is utter garbage. You never see teen boys going crazy over pretty girl singers. They only buy if the music is good. Not teen girls, every-single-time they will base music on the performers looks and the same goes for politics later on. You ever notice that when women were allowed to vote in 1920, we never had another President with facial hair? The last was William Taft in 1913. So in essence, our whole political system has been based on who is the prettiest.
Why did you wait to release the documents if you said you wanted to tell the world about the NSA programs since before Obama became president?
Why is the onus of indictment on Snowden?
When will the media directly demand an answer from Dear Liar in Chief to the question, "Why it is that 300 million Americans are under surveillance by the NSA without the consent of We The People?" And no, I do NOT want to hear the usual BS answer from Baghdad Jay Carney. Does this buck EVER stop at 0dinga?
I wish I was a bug on the wall in SO many congressmen’s offices.
” Who cares how long Snowden’s worked for his former Slithering Sell-Out of an employer? How long has John McCain “worked” in the Senate and what has HE accomplished?? What has 0dinga “accomplished”? At least Snowden’s loyalty is where it should be.”
Not enough info yet on this guy, but so far I agree.
With all the information and data they've collected on the average taxpaying American, you know the 'information' elite have access to every dirty detail of Obama's past. Why doesn't someone come forward with the goods on him?! If they really are threatening Snowden, maybe others behind closed doors were afraid to expose Obama for who and what he really is.
“All I can say right now is the US Government is not going to be able to cover this up by jailing or murdering me.”
Do you think that part’s delusional?
Not all women, sir:
THIS woman would rather be free...and her voting record accurately reflects her preference for freedom over security.
Her driving record clearly indicates that she knows where FORWARD is. REVERSE is to the left...and down...which, unfortunately, is where America is headed.
Oh, and by the way, I drive a high performance, V8 engine, 6 speed manual transmission, gas guzzling sedan because I like it, can afford it and (today, at least) am free to own it.
Sexism is just so unbecoming, and in this case, so patently divisive. Why can’t conservatives refrain from picking each other apart with unnecessary and idiotic comments like yours?
My post was not directed to any specific individual nor to promote “sexism”, but merely pointing out the facts of the general “trend”...and the record proves it. However, you and others like my wife, are true conservatives in every sense of the word. But really, just take a close look at the women’s faces that pic. An old Chinese proverb says, “A picture is worth a thousand words. I don’t have room to type them all here. Again, sorry if I personally offended you. It was certainly not intended to be that way.
A 14 minute clip of a scene from “Red Monarch” the black comedy about Stalin (with two gulag freed loyalists, and Beria played by David Suchet). Horribly funny and horribly accurate.
Obamaumau believes in his own greatness to the same insane extent. And the military industrial and soon to be “medical” part of the complex will continue to get rich off the lies of the “hall of mirrors”.
Freedom cannot tolerate tyranny— of the left or the right.
Dick Cheney called Snowden a “traitor” today-— based on what, Dick?
