It's not unusual for state leaders to try to lure businesses into their borders, but Perry is doing it with fanfare.

When you research it, you find numerous references to Perry having made multiple contacts with Smith & Wesson. I guess they haven’t invited him to tour their place like Colt of CT has invited him to do. Doesn’t mean he isn’t trying.
BTW, in his speech to the NRA, he said the Libs would call a lawyer when a criminal breaks into their home, while HE would call “Smith & Wesson”.
Smile...
Reminds me when he said he believes in gun control, too, meaning how you control your gun when you’re shooting it...
Bad on Remington, then.
And good on you.
Yah,that and Friendly's.Oh,what's that? *They're* going down the toilet too? Not surprising...after all it was *our* Maoist Governor (and longtime Obama pal *and* former welfare recipient) who coined the phrase "yes we can".
Perry has his shortcomings... the greatest of which was to champion “hate crimes” legislation following the hideous Jasper dragging death of Mr Byrd.
However, as you point out, he also has his strong points, and selling Texas to Yankee companies is certainly one of his strongest.
Thank you for your reply, as well as for the solid research.
Sorry that this includes Para, Marlin, etc, too.
“The way guns are selling why doesn’t he just start a Texas gun company?” (corrections made to grammar...)
We already have several but, like guns, we never have enough...
Also, when we secede we want the arms manufacturers on our side of the rivers...
As a kid in the 50’s and 60’s, I loved NYS.

Things have gone to hell in a handbasket pretty fast.
i won't take credit from somebody else
You did the research and posted your findings: I give you the credit (gratefully).
The blue states should be quarantined and starved.

Aah,come on. There are some of us here trying our best to hold back the tide.

“-———that our Maoist Governor will personally help them pack their bags”

Yeah, maybe he could squeeze in another casino.

I mean no offense to the good folks of Springfield, Mass. But their governor likely feels the same way the Democrat governors of Colorado, Connecticut and New York did.
They all essentially said their states could do without jobs like that!
You have the same chances as a Southern Baptist in Saudi Arabia.
You are probably right, but Mears and I will keep fighting from our respective locations.
Remember , never give an inch and NEVER SURRENDER.
I'd be happy to live in upstate NY as a homeless peep.
As a taxpayer/maker, nope.
I like Perry, too. I would certainly have considered voting for him in the ‘12 primaries had he been in when they got to VA. I’d be fine with seeing him give it another go in ‘16, hopefully with more prep. I DO think the back surgery affected him during the period he was in the race.
The only GOP hope in ‘16 will be someone in a governor’s seat. No one presently in Congress is anywhere ready for a presidential run.
Ted Cruz. Bob
Yep - we had a chance at a couple decent candidates and they were jumped on for every "gaffe" or by paranoid delusions of those who insist on "perfection". They blame the "system" (which is partially to fault), but ignore that their own perverse sense of principles gave us Obama for another 4 (if 4 is all it lasts) years and which gave him the opportunity to spread the tentacles of tyranny even more widely into the system that was once a great and Free Nation.
Kind of ironic that many who helped move us even further to the left and enabled the un-Constitutional agencies to grow and flourish, call Snowden a traitor...
