It's not unusual for state leaders to try to lure businesses into their borders, but Perry is doing it with fanfare.

Goes on to say Perry's visit, on Monday, is preceeded by a tv ad campaign in the northeastern market promoting Texas as a business lure and welcoming state in which to manufacture guns. The splashy ad campaign is what they mean when they say "with fanfare".
Understand the visit includes Colt in West Hartford and New Haven's O.F. Mossberg & Sons, and perhaps others in that region.

I happen to like Governor Perry. Sure, he made some huge gaffes during the primaries, but he has done a good job in Texas. Ok - I’m going to duck the tomatoes which are sure to come my way.

He’d call it a victory. Maybe he can lease the space to Planned Parenthood or turn it into a mosque.

A lot of tomatoes are thrown his (and my) way.
Ducking is tiresome.
Especially when the tomatoes come not as much from LIBS as from conservatives.
One of the things he’s proven - while ducking tomatoes - is his gun bonfides and another is his anti-obamacare bonafides.
And believe it or not (they lie who say otherwise), he has the correct border issue position. Do not even speak about the subjects in this immigration bill, much less draft such a bill. Instead, say nothing, do nothing about those things. FOR NOW, FOCUS ONLY ON SECURING THE BORDER. THEN get back to him - basically summarizes where he stood and still stands.
I remember when Brewer signed AZ’s law that Obama’s DOJ went after and partially eviscerated, and Perry said TX wouldn’t have a law the exact copy of her state’s law because every state is a little different. Brewer was the new darling and Perry was the lowest of the low at the time.
Fast forward and Brewer browbeats her own state reps to submit to Obama on Medicaid expansion. Perry stays immovable while not only Brewer but several other GOP governors cave, cave, cave...
I see Perry as someone who might make an error sometimes but does so with a sincere reason to believe it’s the best course when he takes it. If he genuinely changes his mind, he will adjust. If his mind remain made up, he will stand even if everyone else runs like scalded pigs...
Perry loves to talk about the Alamo...little wonder, eh?
Once he promised to back Newt, after his own failed primary campaign, there was a story that he called Newt during his struggle and told him, “we’ll (Anita and I) be with you ‘til the cows come home”.

If Springfield looses S & W, what is left for them Mass Mutual? Does the Massachusetts government -- governor or legilature -- really care?
The Colorado state government welcomed the departure of over 1,000 jobs at Magpul. The Connecticut state government seems not to care about losing armaments jobs.
Why would Patrick and the Massachusetts crooks feel any different?

FWIW okie, Mass Mutual Insurance is based out of Springfield as is S & W. My point was more regional, Springfield has nothing left, I don’t live their but know it well. But you maybe right, their shipdit Governator prolly will care less...

Here is how NY responds:
Andrew Cuomo Launches Ad Campaign to Lure Businesses to N.Y.
"The campaign, New York State Open for Business, is being funded with money drawn from federal disaster aid received in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and from the Power Authority and Energy Research and Development Authority, according to the New York Times.
Most of the money is being spent on television ads, many of which are being broadcast outside of New York and are intended to draw businesses into the state. One features a voiceover by Robert DeNiro set to Jay Zs Empire State of Mind. DeNiro concedes the troubles that have plagued the states economy but argues that its on the rebound. Some said we lost our edge, he tells viewers. Well today, theres a new New York State, one thats working to attract businesses and create jobs."
I saw a lot of these NY ads on local cable stations (including Fox) in NC. When I read this story, it blew my mind. I hope the people who are still suffering from the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy go after him with a vengeance!!!

Remington Sells Out To NY For $80 Million Sniper Rifles Government Contract???
I was really surprised to see this article on Freedom Outpost email that I got.
According to the article.... Freedom Group owns Remington, along with several other gun manufacturers, including Marlin, DPMS, Para, and Bushmaster.
Personally, I will NOT be purchasing anything from them as tax revenue moneys from the
sales will go to NY, the biggest anti-gun city in the US. They will make serious money off
this deal, while trampling the rights of honest citizens to protect themselves.
Anybody thinking like myself, pass this own and let gun owners know their purchases may be
making it taxably possible for the anti-gunners to take away their rights.

Remington Sells Out To NY For $80 Million Sniper Rifles Government Contract
Back in February, several gun manufacturers decided to boycott law enforcement in states that are hostile to the Second Amendment, states like New York for instance. They would not be providing weapons or ammunition. Within a week that number had grown by over 700%. In the first article I provided information for several gun manufacturers that could be contacted to come on board with this boycott, including Glock, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson and Remington. Well, now we know where Remington stands. They stand on the side of government as they have let it be known that they will be staying in New York and they have now acquired a government contract worth $80 million.
Remington informed New York state lawmakers that they were planning to spend $20 million to upgrade their manufacturing facility in Mohawk Valley. The word was that they were considering moving if New York implemented stricter gun control laws as they have in the NY SAFE Act. Remington had been approached by several states to move.
Lawmakers spoke with Remington about their expansion. The company has received $5.5 million in state incentives over the past five years.
While that is in the past, news has come out from New York Congressman Richard Hanna regarding an $80 million contract. According to his website:
UTICA, N.Y. U.S. Representative Richard Hanna today announced that Remington Arms has been awarded a nearly $80 million contract to produce more than 5,000 sniper rifles for the U.S. military. The work will be done in Ilion by Mohawk Valley employees.
The federal contract comes from the Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), a division of the U.S. Department of Defense. The contract will be awarded over the course of 10 years.
The award of this contract to Remington Defense further shows that they are the premier manufacturer of sniper rifles for our Armed Forces, Rep. Hanna said. I have full confidence that this contract will be fulfilled with the high quality and standards that define our Ilion workforce. I fully support Remington Arms and will continue working to ensure that the company and its dedicated employees can thrive in Herkimer County for generations to come.
Sniper rifles for the military, eh? At $80 million, that comes out to $16,000 per rifle over the next ten years. This comes on the heels of Serbu firearms saying they would not be providing their .50 caliber sniper rifles to the New York Police Department.
While these rifles are being manufactured for the U.S. military, one does wonder if this would also keep channels open to provide firearms to New York Police as well.
The irony in all of this is that New York, which has a clearly anti-gun government, will profit tens of millions of dollars from the production of guns through employees taxes, sales tax and more.
While I own at least one Remington firearm, I will not be purchasing further products by Remington, including ammunition.
