Christie has repair work to do with conservatives
CNN ^ | June 14, 2013 | Peter Hamby

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie declined an invitation to attend a major gathering of social conservatives this week in Washington, opting instead to make a high-profile appearance at a forum organized by former President Bill Clinton in Chicago.

Christie's decision was hardly a bombshell: Up for re-election in November in a Democratic-leaning state, the governor can hardly afford to be seen courting Christian conservatives and sharing a stage with divisive figures like Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain.

But his absence was a sore point for many conservative activists who traveled to the Faith and Freedom Coalition's "Road to Majority" conference to see a bumper crop of GOP stars, including would-be presidential candidates like Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

But there is harder evidence that Christie has problems with Republicans outside of New Jersey. A Gallup poll released earlier this month pegged Christie's approval rating among national Republicans at just 58 percent, and almost a quarter of Republicans view him unfavorably.

Junior O’Daniel: We could hire our own midget, even shorter than his.

Pappy O’Daniel: Wouldn’t we look like a bunch of Johnny-come-latelies, bragging on our own midget, doesn’t matter how stumpy.

The only way I would vote for this guy would be if someone pointed a loaded guy to my head in the voting booth. But first he’d have to prove it was loaded.

Repair work? The car is totaled!

I'm with you! That's like kicking your dog and then expecting him to trust you ever again.

BOTH Christy Kreme and Marco the Rube can take a hike as far as I'm concerned.

like passing a car wreck on the Jersey Turnpike complete with three ambulances and squad cars and seeing someone changing a tire on the car at fault.

Silly.

I had a GOP congressman who called himself a fiscal conservative / social moderate. He constantly fought with us “Anti choice extremists” who opposed taxpayer funded abortions.

Roger that. The damage can NEVER be repaired. I do not think he even wants to do any repair work. He is an Obama butt boy.

The polling is the problem ~ do not trust any poll you haven’t designed yourself.

There are FACTIONS inside the Republican party. Conservatives, constituting the largest number of Republican voters, actually have several quite distinct factions ~ to wit: Right to Life activists, Traditionalists, Constitutionalists, Catholics, Southern Baptists, a huge chunk of the Pentecostal Movement ~ numbers unknown, small gub'mnt folks, anti-tax folks, and so on. Then there are the Defense Cons who slop over some of the internal Social Conservative organizations and beliefs.

A single individual might well be counted among several factions depending on where he lives, his life style, his income, and so forth.

The GOP-e, though, has only one faction, and that's dedicated to making money out of the more gooberesque rich donors as they finance runs for the Presidency.

For the most part the GOP-e has no idea what Conservative issues are all about ~ nor do they care. Having lost 12 presidential races since 1936 this particular faction is on its last legs.

Most Republicans are not engaged and don’t know he’s just another fat Democrat.

To hell with the conservatives! Who are they going to vote for...the Democrat nominee? They’ll have no choice but to vote for the Republican candidate - no matter how unacceptable they’ll be!

Huh, what...? What do you mean the conservatives will stay at home and sit out the election? That’s nonsense...

All we’ve got to do is nominate the most left wing Republican (RINO) that there is. That way, we can count on getting half the Democrat vote, most of the Independent vote, and all of the Republican vote. Brilliant!

Now, if we can find a Black, Female, handicapped midget, who is bisexual, well have all the bases covered. There’s no way we Republicans can lose!

Sit out the election? Like they did with Romney and McCain? That’s nonsense. They’ll come out an vote like the good little sheeple they are... /sarc.
