Palin slams military intervention in Syria: 'Let Allah sort it out'
The Hill ^ | Saturday June 15, 2013

Former GOP vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor Sarah Palin told a Washington audience Saturday that the U.S. should not get involved in the Syrian civil war.

Palin argued that the U.S. should not intervene in any Middle East conflict as long as President Obama remains in office. “Until we have a commander in chief who knows what he is doing....let Allah sort it out!” she told the Faith and Freedom Coalition.

The statement shows how far Palin has drifted from former running mate Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who is the chief Senate proponent of U.S. military action to help the Syrian rebels.

We need to protect the Christians. Historically the Alawites have been the Christian protectors in Syria. Assad is the top Alawite. If he is removed and the Alawites are crushed, AlQaida will rule and they will murder the Christians.

McCain, the Arizona beer baron apparently doesn't care, nor do the Poofter set in Congress and the White House.

We need not abandon these people.

No Libyan debacle... kadaffy would still be helping the CIA track MB agents... no MB taking over in Egypt... no arab spring... Israel would have assurances of being defended and we would not be having 400 million scandals and a radical anti-American revolutionary racist as AG.

I agree with you on the last half of your statement but I don't know what Palin could have done to prevent the first half other than sending in troops or leaving NATO.

Not sure that little statement came from a speech writer...know what I mean?

That would be even better. It would mean she has terrific wit and quick intelligence that was totally squelched by McCain.

Also, as she travels the US as a person with no official job, maybe she's "getting it" about the issues that mean most to those of us regular folk in the lower 48.

I submit that McCain was a Leftist curmudgeon and just about everyone knew it. At one point McCain’s main primary opponent was only ten points behind.

Into that environment steps Sarah Palin. She makes appearances for his opponent, labels McCain for what he was to explain why should couldn’t endorse him, and then cuts spots for his opponent driving those points home for months at a time.

I think that cut’s McCain’s ten point lead and gives the opponent the big momentum he needs.

Funding would have been hard. Still, with a break even stance it’s a lot easier to get that funding. It also causes the grass roots folks to support you with every dime they can.

As I said, I’m not convinced McCain could have been beaten. I am not convinced he couldn’t have been either. You never know how someone will catch on. I do know you don’t catch on when the perceived most Conservative person doing the endorsing calls the likes of McCain the right guy, and then tells your Conservative base at the Tea Party that he is one with them.

You may be right, but it boggles the mind that she and the Republican party thought McCain was the right guy. Truly sad.

So what would a President Palin have done?....I don’t know what the heck you are asking about, but if it’s about the Syrian situation, I’d hope she would buy popcorn for the Joint Chiefs of Staff and sit back saying “Let’s see what these barbarians do to each other.”

She would have worked it before it happened. There was a strong political argument that could be made for retaining kadaffy and Sarah would have used it. We fought and defeated Iraq and bore the brunt in Afghanistan and we could have paid back some NATO allies that stabbed us in the back when we needed them. There are always alternate paths. We could have just bought hussein for instance... used him as a block on Iran... doable and much cheaper in life and treasure.

How someone with such dumb or intentional choices in the past can now be seers of wisdom is a real bother for/to me. My first impulse is to look for an opportunist rather than a morally converted person. Of course this just an opinion of a person who believes there is no integrity or truth in people who have licked the boots of Obama so to speak.

She (Palin) does seem to have a better speech writer than she used to.

Sarah Palin does not use speechwriters. Her words are her own. I would guess she uses a basic outline of what she wants to cover and speaks from her heart.

Correct. It's Sarah's words. One of her professors in college stated that she was one of the most gifted students he ever had.

Sarah is much more intelligent that most realize.
