Sex offender gets 11-year term for kidnapping, assault of teen
Chronicle Herald ^ | JUNE 15, 2013 | Beverley Ware

BRIDGEWATER — They left him naked and standing spread-eagled, his wrists and ankles chained to bolts in the ceiling and floor, for three days.

The 16-year-old boy said his hands turned blue, but David James LeBlanc and Wayne Alan Cunningham would not loosen the chains. They brought him a bucket to urinate in. The second night, the teen fell asleep standing up.

They sexually abused him every day.

The small, dark-haired boy with mild acne still bears the marks of those chains on his wrists and suffers nerve damage in his hand from being chained and suspended from the ceiling of a rented cabin in Upper Chelsea, Lunenburg County, for eight days last September.

LeBlanc, 48, was sentenced Friday in Nova Scotia Supreme Court in Bridgewater to 11 years in prison, minus 258 days for time already served.

He pleaded guilty last month to kidnapping, confining, sexual assaulting and threatening to kill the boy and with breaching earlier release conditions. He also pleaded guilty to making and distributing child pornography involving two boys, aged five and two, and for touching the five-year-old for a sexual purpose.

Justice Richard Coughlan called the facts of the case “horrendous.”

The boy recounted the horrifying details of his ordeal at LeBlanc’s preliminary hearing in April. He said the two men unhooked the chains that bound him just two or three times over those three days. They did that to take him to the shower, the chains still around his wrists and ankles, where they shaved him and let him brush his teeth.

The boy said he was at a friend’s place in the Fairview area of Halifax when he met LeBlanc, who offered him a painting job.

LeBlanc told him they had to drive to Bridgewater to pick up painting supplies, but instead they drove to the cabin. LeBlanc’s partner, Wayne Cunningham, 31, was there, as was Cunningham’s small silver car with its Tweety Bird licence plate on the front.

The boy said the men gave him a rum and coke and he thinks it was drugged.

“I felt really weird,” he testified. “I never felt that way before.”

He said LeBlanc grabbed his upper arms and forced him into a bedroom, where he put the boy on the floor, crossed his arms over his chest and chained them to bolts in the floor, then performed a sex act on him.

“I was completely naked when they chained me up,” he said.

The two men repeatedly sexually assaulted him every day, he said.

The boy said there were days he got no food. When he got really hungry, he’d ask the men for a smoke and they’d bring the cigarette up to his lips.

One day when the two men were out, the boy managed to wriggle out of the chains and escape through a window in the room.

He said he was hitchhiking when LeBlanc and Cunningham pulled up in the silver car and forced him into it.

Back at the cabin, the two men burned the boy’s clothes, and this time they chained him to the ceiling and floor with his arms and legs splayed apart. He said they made the chains tighter than before and secured them with tape.

That’s when they left him standing there for three days, his hands turning blue.

After those three days, he was let down to sleep but chained to a bed.

The sex acts continued daily, up to three times a day.

The teen said he felt “like I wanted to die.”

He said the two men told him they wanted to sell him and let other people have their way with him, which the boy said did happen once.

He said he was blindfolded but was able to see that the man was fat and balding and wore glasses.

The teen said that over the course of his ordeal, he left blood, urine and vomit in the cabin, hoping it would provide evidence he was there.

One day, the two men left for hours. The boy was left chained to the bed but was able to unscrew the eyehook that held his wrists. He pushed off the board that had been placed across the window and escaped.

He said he was able to smash the connecting chains apart with a big rock he found in the woods, and he ran, wearing just a sweater and hat and with the chains still dangling from his wrists and ankles. He eventually arrived at a house where a man cut off the chains and drove him to Bridgewater.

The boy’s voice cracked when he talked about seeing his mother.

“I told her I love her.”

He was treated in hospital in both Bridgewater and Halifax, where he was given medication to help protect against HIV.

The boy’s mother told the court her son suffers from nightmares, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and rage. He is so terrified that he carries a can of spray irritant with him at all times, she said.

Police launched a search for LeBlanc and Cunningham.

LeBlanc was arrested Sept. 30 walking along a logging road in remote northeastern Ontario, and Cunningham’s body was found Oct. 3 in a densely wooded area nearby.

A third man, John Leonard MacKean, 63, of Lower Sackville, is charged with sexual assault and communicating with Cunningham to buy sexual services from the teen. He is free on bail pending a preliminary hearing July 25.

LeBlanc is now a registered sex offender who must report to authorities every year for the rest of his life.

Castration and/or death seems much more appropriate.

only 11 years? And he’ll be out sooner on parole, I’m sure.

I sure hope the guy in Cleveland who kept the girls prisoner gets a much longer sentence.

I vote for death. Recidivism rates for sex offenders is extremely high.

Not nearly enough jail time. It should be 50 years or 0. The latter option is only viable if a 9mm is first applied to the back of these subhumans’ heads.

Ah, one of the animals is already dead. Good.

Eleven years for kidnapping, forcible confinement and sexual assault/rape?
He’ll be out in four.

Folks, if that were my teenage boy, this filth would already be dead, which is exactly what he deserves. Where is this boy’s father? (either divorced and long gone...or unknown is my bet, perhaps dead) Where are his uncles?

This is intolerable, and I pray this perverted animal gets what he deserves and is thus rendered no longer a threat to others. As it is, he will get out and we will hear about him again.

...and ditto to the sick perv who sentenced him.

In the good old days, when people had a lick of sense, this piece of human debris would have been hanged on the spot. Cost to taxpayers: a length of rope. The tree would be free.

I wonder if the Gay community will be defending the men in this case like the accused teenaged Statuary rapist in Indian River County Florida.

The sentence should have been execution.

They’ll let this guy out in a few years, and then he’ll recommit even worse. It will be more along the lines of what happened to Jaycee Dugard. LeBlanc will figure out how to cover his tracks, like her captor/rapist did. Just when you think the courts will learn, they go ahead and give a soft sentence. I weep.

The victim will be mournfully remembered at this month’s civic funded Gay Pride Parade celebrations, right?

Right??

He’s no “Matthew Shepard”, that’s for sure.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Eleven years. Yep. That’s Canada for you.

When I first read the headline and saw 'Bridgewater', I assumed it was Massachusetts. Such a lenient sentence for such abject cruelty...he should never be released again into society.

The puppet masters who actually run the governments of Western nations via banking controls are so degenerate themselves that I am surprised the degenerate in this article actually has to serve time in prison. Dead souls are the ruling class now, all across the Western world.

Echoing the thoughts of many freepers doubtless, if the sentencing were left to me I would just put a bullet in the brain and bury the remains at sea. These animals are not going to be rehabilitated. When this animal is released in the not so distant future, he will connect to a network of dead soul degenerates and go right back into his 'lifestyles of the rich and famous.'

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out, once the homo agenda is mainstream(progressives can check that one off their list)...the pedophiles will insist on their equality.

Don't think Gomorah-ca would ever except such a thing? You under-estimate the dumbing down power of the media, the weakness/corruption in our political system, not to mention an increasingly immoral populace(thanks to an increasingly immoral media)...

Why a sentence of only 11 years, why not life in prison and I say that only ‘cause I imagine their is not capital punishment in Nova Scotia??

Recidivism rates for those that receive the death penalty is zero!
