On Wednesdays Hannity on the Fox News Channel, commentator Ann Coulter doubled down on the headline of her latest column by calling Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio the Jack Kevorkian of the GOP.
Asked by host Sean Hannity whether she was for real in her article If the GOP is this stupid, it deserves to die, the conservative firebrand proudly owned the column.
Yes, thats the headline of my excellent column this week, which I highly recommend everyone read, Coulter said. Its just you talk about Chuck Schumer. Well, Chuck Schumer is playing Marco Rubio, the Jack Kevorkian of the Republican Party. If this amnesty bill goes through and it is amnesty step one, is legalization. Everything after that, all the triggers to citizenship are phony triggers. There doesnt have to be a fence. There doesnt have to be E-verify. There just has to be Department of Homeland Security assuring us they have a plan.
Hannity contested Coulters assumption that border security would come before legalization, citing an interview he had with the Florida senator on his radio show earlier in the day. Coulter, the author of Mugged: Racial Demagoguery from the Seventies to Obama, dismissed Rubios claim and cited Schumers own preference for legalization over enforcement.
Hannity presented a hypothetical that has been floated about splitting the Senate version of the immigration bill in the House and having two separate votes one on border enforcement and another on so-called legalization. That led to a back-and-forth between the two conservative opinion leaders.
HANNITY: Lets say for example we can bifurcate the bill and control the border first what would Ann Coulter do with the 11 million people who did not respect the laws and sovereignty and came here legally?
COULTER: This is a total fraud and a fig leaf that American people cant sleep at night because the situation is the exactly the same today as it was in 1987.
HANNITY: Youre not answering my question.
COULTER: Its been 20 years
HANNITY: Youre like a liberal
COULTER: No, nothing
HANNITY: Youre not answering my question. COULTER: To the contrary, you are like a liberal making a silly argument.
HANNITY: Im teasing.
COULTER: Its a straw-man argument. Nobody cares.
HANNITY: Hang on.
COULTER: This idea that its an emergency, its a crisis is preposterous.
HANNITY: Ann, hang on a second..
COULTER: The same thing will happen thats happening now.
HANNITY: No. what Im arguing you is if we dont secure our border, we have major national security problem.
COULTER: Yeah.
HANNITY: Im asking you because the House is talking about bifurcating the two provisions. Control the border
COULTER: That would be a disaster.
HANNITY: get it totally secure, verified, secure 100 percent. Then, if that happened and its hypothetical, what would you do with the 11 million people after? Coulter remained steadfast on the idea that splitting the bill would be a disaster.
Then wed have this other bill, Coulter replied. OK, in the abstract, that would be a fine idea. First we request 100 percent enforcement of E-verify 100 percent. They could do that now. If the Congress were serious about enforcing the border, they would demand enforcement of E-verify now. They would build the fence right now. The fence is not some new technology. Its been around since the middle ages. But at this point, because of the House and these Jack Kevorkians of the Republican Party like Kelly Ayotte, who I hope gets a primary opponent, and Marco Rubio, who I hope gets a primary opponent, and the rest of them, theyre going to pass an amnesty bill. If the House passes anything this very important, Hannity viewers, so pay attention here if the House does nothing but say, enforce E-verify, it goes into the conference between the two bodies and it will come out an amnesty bill. At that point if its voted on in the House and in the Senate, we have amnesty. The country is over and the only thing we have left for me and you to do, Sean, is to punish the people who destroyed America.
Could he start with Meghan McCain?
Broken clock twice a day...
Nevertheless, I agree with her in this case.
Funny, I felt the same thing about Ann during the 2012 election.
Coulter’s right on this issue... Dems are playing Rubio for a fool...
I watched it last nite and was screaming at the TV.
Hannity has to get out of NYC more often as he really has no idea how angry the base is over this.
sooo disappointed in rubio. florida family are especially not happy with their choice now.
No, Rubio is playing Americans for the fool.
LaRAZA!
Rubio is no fool. He knows exactly what he is doing. He knows what Amnesty will do to this country and he WANTS it to happen.
Yeah I noticed Hannity’s Rubio crush was on display. He looked like a jealous Michelle Obama when AC was demonizing the dimwit Cubano!
After a long and puzzling apostasy, the old Ann arises from the ashes.
Hannity, Levin, even Limbaugh, have a love affair with Rubio.
It’s like a parent or spouse who can’t believe their boy is doing anything wrong. They refuse to confront him on what even the low-information voter can see is his dishonesty, hypocrisy, and gross stupidity, with a dash of tribal racism on the side.
Hannity now has an almost daily segment where Rubio can spread his lies without anything but softball questions from Hannity. And no opposing voices against amnesty, which Hannity is now all for.
Historians centuries from now will marvel about how the world’s most powerful country ever committed suicide without a shot being fired. The Russians are probably envious that, instead of nuclear weapons and the Cold War, they just didn’t sneak millions of Russians into the USA. They would now be running America if they used the same tactic the illegals from Hispangea are now so successfully using.
And Anne’s the Bar Wench at the GOPe country club .
Sorry babe. you lost me last year when you went off on your ardent supporters and then dawned like some idiotic adolescent girl discovering boyz.
Hannity is against the bill.
The only question is, do you and the rest of your ilk on this thread know that, and are pretending otherwise?
Or do you not know that and are speaking on that of which you know not?
Levin and Rush, against the bill.
Do you listen more than a minute or two to their programs? Do you only read misinformation posted here? What is your problem that you don’t know the truth that I hear from them every time they mention it.
All three of them oppose this bill.
They are having a hard time coming to grips with their pet, Rubio, so royally screwing up whether intentionally or unintentionally.
I personally think Rubio is mentally dense, and that’s being kind. I could use much stronger wording.
The commercials that are running during their air time are dastardly lies. It angers me that they are playing. But when you listen to THEM, they all think this amnesty bill is the most stupid thing Republicans have ever done and they have done some very stupid things.
Race-baiting, crybaby, whiner.
Check him out at his worst at the RNC...
"My dad worked in hotels and had to serve drinks to mean white people in Florida...etc.,"
I HATE when people whine about their formative years as if they suffered significantly, when they didn't.
Rubio is being played by the Rats but his is playing the GOP by pretending to be conservative, then cashing in the race card after getting amnesty through.
He is a POS whining minority... classic variety.
Ann’s back! Finally.
