One of the dumbest moves made by Lois Lerner (and those above her who presumably approved her strategy to deflect blame) was blaming her subordinates in Cincinnati as "rogue agents" who launched the anti-tea party jihad the IRS has been carrying on ever since the 2010 midterm elections threatened the Obama agenda.
She may have expected they would remain quiet and accept their role as scapegoats. Perhaps that is how she has operated before in the vast federal bureaucracy, using the threat of poor performance evaluations and truncated career advancement to intimidate subordinates into remaining quiet and covering her rear end. But that approach cannot work when the stakes are high and public scrutiny intense.
If you dump on the people below you, there is every reason to expect they will fight back. That backlash appears to have begun.
Eliana Johnson writes in National Review Online:
"A Cincinnati-based Internal Revenue Service employee is pushing back against claims by Lois Lerner and other top IRS officials that the agency's Cincinnati office was responsible for the the targeting of tea-party groups and the botched processing of their applications for tax exemption."
"Elizabeth Hofacre, who coordinated "emerging issues" cases for the IRS and handled all tea-party applications between April and August 2010, called Lerner's May 10 disclosure of the scandal at a tax-law conference "a nuclear strike" on Cincinnati employees. Hofacre told House Oversight Committee investigators in an interview, the transcript of which has been reviewed by National Review Online, that her boss immediately called her to apologize on Lerner's behalf, presumably because "she was flabbergasted that Lois had made such a statement" and "appalled that Lois Lerner said that."

They better upgrade their medical insurance.
The Obama/Clinton Administration hired felons
with criminal records (and covered it up)
for a reason.
Mr. Foster has not been heard from.
Is anybody tracking her activities?
Are there no Republicans with the balls to make a stink about this? HA! Yeah. Right.
This is the America our fellow countrymen, the beloved low information crowd, apparently wants. This is going to be an uphill fight and it doesn’t help that a number of people on our side don’t have any guts to fight back.
I can understand the communist DemocRATs blaming everything bad that happens on President Bush, but blaming stuff on Cincinnati? I wonder which one of the “White House” rocket scientists came up with that idea?
Let’s see what kind of “information” comes out about Ms. Hofacre over the next few days.
I think this is reaching “jailbreak” status. Anyone who has any sort of an ax to grind and works for the Feds is gonna start leaking on Obama like a sieve.
Can’t whack all the moles.
Yea, what about the blood oath that they all took? ;-)
Sing people sing!!! Stand the heck up!
Stop the promising and start delivering.
Sadly, there’s probably nothing here.
IMO, there isn’t a pair of nads in the GOP except for Cruz and a handful of others so to speak.
Beyond that there are a good number who are loyal to the agency.
Depending on who you are and where you came from, at least one of those factions will turn on you and tear you to pieces in a NY second over anything that strikes their fancy.
Lois is, by IRS standards, an outsider ~ she is also remarkably stupid and thuggish else she'd noticed she had been tossed into the pit with the tax collecting wolves and jackals.
They will crush her into bone meal and pellets.
I understand the temptation to pound on the feckless pubbies but please consider this for a moment...
For a short period lerner is like money in the bank for the pubbies. Why? Because of the scrutiny that is being focused on her. Everybody is watching - on both sides.
The thing about her continued computer access is absolutely valid - she should have been cut off even before she finished her sentence when she tried to lean on the 5th. Her lefty masters didn’t do it. They are the ones who have allowed her to continue outside of protocol and the law. And we all know it.
Every day that goes by is interest on the deposit - up to a point. I get the sense that there are those who are waiting for the perfect moment to ask someone way higher up the food-chain exactly the question you posed. I hope so!
You shoulda been a poet.
a very curious action by Lerner to "throw Cincinnati under the bus". It reeks of panic. Why say anything at all in advance? The Cincinnati defense only made it clear that Lerner and Steven Miller were participating in a coveup.
She is being prepared for the slaughter!
They weren’t “rogue agents,” they were “rouge agents.” Two old ladies with very pink cheeks!
hopefully they will find in Snowden some inspiration.
