WASHINGTON (AP) — A leading Republican senator on Tuesday described controversial U.S. spy programs as looking far deeper into Americans' phone records than the Obama administration has been willing to admit, fueling new privacy concerns as Congress sought to defend the surveillance systems.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC., says the U.S. intelligence surveillance of phone records allows analysts to monitor U.S. phone records for a pattern of calls, even if those numbers have no known connection to terrorism.

I still claim the NSA and Bammy clones are collecting and using the megadata too.

The Hairy Reed needs to prove I'm wrong.

...a pattern of calls...

Pattern of calls. Hmmmm...metadata. Pattern of calls....use what I have done in the past to know what my next move is before I even do it. What will I buy next? Where will I go next? Who will I meet with next?

How long before Tom Cruise appears at my door to arrest me for a crime I have not committed yet???

Metadata...Behavior mapping, which assisted along with voter fraud in this last election is the scariest part of this. My life and what I do on FR means nothing to these POS's...unless I am someone who can stand in the way of their goal.

And to think this is the same pathetic clown who says we should give up some civil rights so government can protect us.

Oh fer cryin’ out loud. I remain underwhelmed at any of the real facts (meager as they may be) in this case. Making international phone calls is no more protected than is your RV upholstery coming across the border.

I think we all knew that it was going to be the case. Just like we know that the invertebrates in the GOP won't do anything about it.

“...... even if those numbers have no known connection to terrorism.”

Their definition of “connection to terrorism” has been known for quite some time.

The Founding fathers placed mail service under the federal government's jurisdiction ~ along with the regular military (army and navy).

They understood that the primary purpose of the federal government was to defend and protect the nation even if they had to make some people feel uncomortable.

So, have you come up with some other way to deal with the fact that we are under attack?

Think about all the GOP who have been busted having affairs calling prostitutes, etc. I bet they have been tracking things for years and then the media is tipped off.

Oh we understand well our nation is under attack. Mpow you care to explain to us all why we are fixing to INVITE Syrians into this nation and refuse to secure our borders to our south?

IF such a program is needed then it needs to be ran by the most disciplined and most accountable custodian we have. That is not to be found in our civilian government agencies. Who is best trained to determine our overseas enemies and real threats as well as respond? Our military. Who has the strictest accountability. Our military. Who is running the program in question instead? More run amuck empowered government agencies thus the reason things got out of hand. It is our elected leaders Dem and GOP who do not understand the threat. It is they who placed national security into the hands of partisan crony and possibly enemy stooges.

Try that at customs sometime.

The show “Person of Interest” where the government monitors your every move IS NOT science fiction, it is fact. A year ago it was estimated that everyone in the US is photographed over 200 times each day - traffic cams, security cams, etc. Now we know that they have sound to go with the pics.
