A large majority of Americans say the federal government should focus on investigating possible terrorist threats even if personal privacy is compromised, and most support the blanket tracking of telephone records in an effort to uncover terrorist activity, according to a new Washington Post-Pew Research Center poll.

Fully 45 percent of all Americans say the government should be able to go further than it is, saying that it should be able to monitor everyone’s online activity if doing so would prevent terrorist attacks. A slender majority, 52 percent, say no such broad-based monitoring should occur.

The new survey comes amid recent revelations of the National Security Agency’s extensive collection of telecommunications data to facilitate terrorism investigations.

Overall, 56 percent of Americans consider the NSA accessing telephone call records of millions of Americans through secret court orders “acceptable,” while 41 percent call the practice “unacceptable.”...

Gotta love how the poll was phrased. I wonder where their sample came from?

If anyone does support this stuff, wait until the figure out that their alcohol purchases and bar tabs gets them a visit from a Muslim/sharia agent.

They will be signing a different tune then.

Well that settles it. Majority opinion makes right, unless it involves gay marriage, abortion, immigration, taxes, eminent domain, drug policy, education policy, health care, foreign policy, trade policy, deficit spending, etc.

A majority of people in the 13 colonies wanted to remain subjects of the Crown, too.

I could slant such a poll by merely over-weighting female responses. Most women will trade liberty for security.

This is a false poll. I saw other polls totally opposite.

Heaven forbid their beloved Hussein do anything wrong and be held accountable. I’m sick and tired and about ready to drop out of the rat race.

Believe it. Look at all the conservatives who say Snowden should be arrested and prosecuted.

I’d bet that if the government announced that everyone should report to the nearest football field, park, parking lot, etc, more than half would voluntarily show up and they wouldn’t even ask why. Just line up and get on the cattle cars. You’ll love where we’re taking you.

And don’t be surprised to “learn” of all the nuke attacks that have been prevented. And, like Snowden said, the government will come up with some big threat and tyranny will follow.

God, thank You that I’m nearing the end of my natural life. I feel for true conservatives children and grandchildren. Not the same feelings for those who helped creat the tyrant.

Oddly enough, fully 45% of Americans work for the gov't.
