Google's blog post was titled: What the ...?
Google CEO Larry Page and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg are denying reports linking the Internet search company to a secret government program that has provided the National Security Agency access to email and other personal information transmitted on various online services.
One denied a connection via a blog and the other a timeline post.
In a post on the Google blog titled "What the...?" Page said the company hasn't joined any government program allowing the NSA to mine its computers for personal data about users of its search engine, Gmail service or YouTube video service.

what sort of fool is derailed by such a specifically deceptive statement?
Of COURSE they don't give the "government" "direct" access to their "servers". They give governent or someone else either direct or indirect access to the user data that they want. This is infuriating!

"First, we have not joined any program that would give the U.S. governmentor any other governmentdirect access to our servers. How about certain countries on the other side of the Pacific?

They got the same exact talking points from the WH/NSA lawyers and posted them verbatim.
Which means that they are lying!

Yeah right, google has been in bed with Obama since before day one of his occupation of the White House.
I watched in mounting horror and alarm as they systematically and deliberately “disappeared” over a half million hits on image searches for “obama birth certificate” over a three day period in mid-July 2007.

True they didn’t “join”, the government shows up & says we are going to do X & if you say anything about it in any way we the enforcement arm of the Obama junta will make sure you get to take showers in jail for a long time.

“We had not heard of a program called PRISM until yesterday”
“I can assure you that I certainly did not know anything about the [inspector general] report before the I.G. report had been leaked” to the press”
Yeah, none of them ever know anything. Bunch of turnips, eh?

They must lie to get invited to the WH pinky parties. You would be surprised
what people would do to be invited at every chance. Christy Mathews comes to mind.

They are probably not lying ... just omitting relevant facts. The direct interfaces to their mainframes are by a subcontractor (subcontracted to guess who) and not by NSA.

Not only that, back up a level and look at the two denials:
1. They both claim that they don’t allow “direct access” to their servers.
We’re not stupid. We learned how to parse carefully worded denials after Clinton’s second term. There’s access. It just isn’t “direct.”
2. They both claim that they hadn’t heard of “PRISM.” OK, that’s nice. The government might have used a different term for the same program on the outside when discussing it in Silly Valley.
3. Notice that the order of the paragraphs is the same on both statements. There’s three paragraphs of substance, and in both statements, the order of issues is exactly the same: No “direct” access, never heard of “PRISM,” call for “greater transparency.”
Odds are, both of these statements were effectively written by the government, and tweeked a bit by their in-house legal teams.
I don’t believe in coincidence here.

I used to work at a large hosting company and the FBI was in there on a weekly basis asking for information and requesting copies of all sorts of things.
If it was happening at that company, it was happening at google and facebook. The fact they are lying about it is laughable.

(I found it VERY curious that both statements are almost identical - see my bolded text above.)
Good catch my FRiend.
Unfortunately, we live in a Mediacracy, which means we get what the MSM wants us to get. Yes, FOX news included. So, unless the masses get the truth fed to them, we will never ever be able to stop the inevitable. I say fed, because the vast majority will never go out of their way to find it themselves.
The inevitable, will be the complete control of our lives in America. No society has ever been programed for control by it's government like America.
A simple proof of my point is the way we foillow the rules set up by government. No society in the world pays it's taxes as willingly, or as proficiently as Americans.
Look what happens when the traffic lights stop working. Even in bug cities, traffic plows, maybe not as smoothly, but it flows. Go to Europe or, God forbid, a 3rd world country and watch what happens when the traffic lights stop working. Total chaos.
Americans not only believe and follow the rule of law, we willingly follow the rule on unconstitutional law.
Oh, we will bitch and complain, but we fall in place. Just like the Jews of Europe in thew 1930's, Americans are trained to walk into the showers while believing the water will flow, only to learn at the last second, that the rumors were true, but it will be too late,,,,,,, it's gas!
I hear all my friends and Freeper's talk about bearing arms and fighting to the death, but we all know the sad truth. We are a dieing breed. We are too few, and too unorganized to ever take on the most sophisticated military the world has ever seen.
I once had a friend in France back in the 70", when I was in the service, who was a member of the French Underground during WWII. The stories he told me about fighting against, what was then, the most sophisticated and intrusive government the world had ever known which was the Nazis, was amazing. That was then, this is now. Imagine if Hitler had the power our governmental leaders have now, compared to what we, the possible underground would have.
We can all have visions, and dreams of being the men and women who will fight the good fight while returning American to the freedom loving society we remember, but it is all just a dream.
Will you fight? Can you see enough patriots fighting that will make the difference? Sadly, our own trusted friends will be the ones who betray us by not keeping quiet about our intentions. This is not 1941, and our government is not Nazi Germany, nor fascist Italy, and not the Vichy government of France. This is America, the country we helped become George Orwell's nightmare!
I save this opinion for comments, because way too many of my FReeper FRiends will never accept the sad reality of truth. If you disagree, then tell me that you are ready to die and give your all like those who fought died while giving their all to win their freedom from King George.
Read the stories of those who were on our side that ended up penniless, famililess, and forgotten by those they gave all for. That is the sacrifice the majority of the revolutionary fighters gave. Are you ready to give up what they did? Do you even know anyone who is willing to give up what is needed to give up for such a fight
Just imagine the convenience that would be sacrificed. A soft bed, a warm meal, clean cloths, warm house in the winter, cool house in the summer just to name a few. All this and much, much more that will be sacrificed for what would inevitably be a very, very long drawn out war that will be needed to win.
Sorry, but I do not know one person who is ready, nor honestly willing to give up what it would take. Think about it, how many conservatives do you know that have even given up on things like going to the movies, or buying things that directly enriches the left? How does anyone here expect them to give up everything they would be required to forfeit to fight a long war for freedom, as our Forefathers did?
Oh yea remember, we would be fighting against our own army with tools we basically defend our home with and hunt with.

Then why would the government be launching a criminal investigation to find the leaker who leaked information about a program that never existed?
