Now. We only need to find GOP that aren’t on the take or being blackmailed with this info.

I wrote to my RINO congressman demanding that he oppose the patriot act back then.

RD :”Though Americans are usually evenly split over the Patriot Act, I suspect that the brazenness and widespread nature of this particular brand of snooping probably won’t go over well. It’s important to remember that during the Bush years the NSA had, as this USA Today story characterizes it, a “massive database of Americans’ phone calls,” so this isn’t exactly new territory. The GOP will undoubtedly be branded a bunch of hypocrites (and in some instances it will be well deserved). What is new in Washington, however, is a gaggle of libertarian-minded GOP politicians that weren’t part of the 99-1 affirmative vote on the Patriot Act and they weren’t here for a decade defending the expansion of FISA courts.“

Check out the comments on this past thread, they go like :'Bush is keeping you safe and needs to do whatever he thinks it takes to do that, if you aint a terrorist you is safe, what are you a terrorist sympathizer or somthin???':

ABC News claimed yesterday that phone calls made by its reporters and journalists at the New York Times and Washington Post are being traced by the federal government as part of an investigation into leaks of classified information.

Is this headline some kind of joke?

Why would the GOP lead the fight against a Patriot Act that was passed by a GOP House and a GOP Senate, and signed into law by a GOP president?

Would be nice. But most of us are still waiting for the gutless GOP
to do something about...

Benghazi
The IRS
Targeting Conservatives

I would not hold my breath.

“These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.” — Thomas Paine

Now is the time to draw the line in the sand, but will Americans do it?

It’s a trap. This is so dumb. How can you fight something that Republicans were 100 percent for. I don’t think the Republicans should touch this at all. The Democrats are pissed at Obama. Let’s see how that pans out.

I didn’t like the Patriot Act when Bush wanted it. Part of it was memories of Janet Reno.

I like it. If Nixon could go to China and O can spy on everyone with impunity, then I think Republicans OUGHT to be the ones to stand up and say ENOUGH!!!!

Now why would the GOP do something like that when it did THIS:

Flashback to May 2011:

GOP struggles for PATRIOT Act votes

"House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) offered a stern warning to his fellow lawmakers in a closed conference meeting Wednesday at the Capitol Hill Club: Don’t you dare vote no unless you attend Mueller’s briefing and ask your questions."

Bachmann defends vote for Patriot Act after fielding complaints about government over-reach

"Tea Party favorite Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) on Thursday night spent five minutes on the House floor in an attempt to justify her vote for the Patriot Act, after admitting to receiving significant feedback from her supporters urging her to reject it."

I am all for revisiting the Patriot act and if not repealing, steadily watering down its provisions. We have won/lost the war, and now have switched sides. The only thing right now we are using some of these vast new powers for is to keep up the war against the Americans.

The Obama administration has declared the Tea Party to be the biggest threat to National Security. They are now monitoring every phone call in America as part of the so called war on terror.

The we on terror is over. The war is now on against the whole of the American Citizenry with particular emphasis on conservatives and those dangerous people who cry out for limited government.

They have found their enemy and it is us.

This is war my Friends. This is war.

If the government snooping has saved one terrorist attack, and they have, it should be continued. I got nothing tohide, so I don’t give rats behind if they snoop on me.

The fact that the GOP is doing about as little as it can tells you all you need to know about the GOP.

People are forgetting that this government has identified Tea Partiers, gun control advocates and other conservatives as “terrorists”. When we read that the phone spying efforts were aimed at rooting out terrorists and their networks, I do not think that the government thinks that “terrorist” means what we think it means. I think that they wanted to monitor US calling patterns to identify conservatives and their allies.
