Kirk to Holder: Is DOJ spying on Congress? (& SCOTUS?)
Washington Examiner ^ | June 6 | Joel Gehrke

Posted on 06/06/2013 9:34:44 AM PDT by PghBaldy

“With all due respect, Senator, I don’t think this is an appropriate setting for me to discuss [this issue],” Holder replied during a Senate Appropriations Subcommittee hearing when Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., asked if the executive branch was conducting surveillance that would give “unique leverage” over lawmakers.

Kirk replied that “the correct answer would be no, we stayed within our lane, and we did not spy on Members of Congress.”

Holder assured Kirk that “there is no intention to do anything of that nature — that is, to spy on Members of Congress or to spy on the Supreme Court.”

Of course they are spying on them and getting the goods on them. How do you think they are getting away with everything thing they are doing ? Why do you think not one member of congress has had the nerve to ask Hawaii for a birth cert.
They are being blackmailed into submission.

But in 2013, WHAT is really going to be in these Senator's closets that is going to be so incredibly shocking? It certainly can;t be the gay thing, nobody cares about that these days. Affairs? Mark Sanford will be re-elected.

Oh yes people would care if the sex involved minors.
There were rumors of Saudi parties involving minors years ago

Kirk is a jerk....and his pretend outrage at Team Obama is betrayed by his embrace of sodomy and the moral philosophy of the Demon Rat party.

Holder, well, what can I say? A crook, just like his boss.

Clearly your (and others) personal Alinskyesque attacks on me while not refuting the substance & facts of my posts has outed you as a supporter/activist for homosexual pedophile perverts and their inherent evil.

Boehner made one flip remark
about people going to jail
and has been AWOL since.

Pelosi knew how to handle political opposition, she was out there every day.
Boehner does not know how to use the bully pulpit. Fire his ass!

If the congress or the supremes ever use Verizon, than yes, the DOPJ is spying on them.

Actually, we do need proof he’s spying on Congress and SCOTUS.

It will be the basis for a Constitutional crisis, in that even the dems are going to look at this and have to decide whether this precedent remains.

After all, eventually you’ll get a righty in there that will use it to, and at that point it won’t do any good to complain.

Even aging hippies don’t like this, even as they desolate the US behind them for the generations to come like locusts. It’s the figleaf of dignity to which they still cling - The Man has no right spying on what you do in your own home.

Even Carl Levin thinks its wrong.

Just you wait - the idiots on the right side of the aisle are going to jump up and defend this sh!t on the basis of national security, even though it didn’t stop what happened in Boston. The GOP is the party of stupid.

What an answer - no ‘intention’ to do it.

Kirk blew this.

I would have asked,

“Am I to understand you are asserting your rights under the 5th amendment to the Constitution with regards to answering my question, sir?”

The answer is an obvious yes.
Why else would a certain Supreme Court justice indicate to his coleagues he was ruling one way, then within minutes of making the ruling he switched it to pull Zero’s bacon out of the fire?

Well you are probably correct on a number of items. BUT don't we have proof when we saw the AG was spying on the Congressional phone lines trying to “catch” a reporter who had leaked information? Thought we already knew the Admin was tapping the Congressional cloak room phone lines that are used by the Press and Representatives??? Perhaps my memory is bad, and frankly I don't want to waste my time on the AG who must be fired - the real issues before the Republicans are prosecution of the Fast and Furious, Benghazi and IRS ‘GATES.

Mark Kirk to Holder: Tell the truth, has the DOJ been harvesting Congress’s phone records too?

In light of the lies, deception, criminal acts, and political agenda of the BHO adm, a not too unrelated comment from the last thread:

People are forgetting that this government has identified Tea Partiers, gun control advocates and other conservatives as “terrorists”. When we read that the phone spying efforts were aimed at rooting out terrorists and their networks, I do not think that the government thinks that “terrorist” means what we think it means. I think that they wanted to monitor US calling patterns to identify conservatives and their allies.

Yes. It is too bizarre that the wording of the ruling doesn’t even make sense without noting the quick change. Highly disturbing. Congress needs to look into that pronto.
