Friday afternoon on The Five, Bob Beckel tore into Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for an online ad he released this week that uses the IRS scandal to equate President Obama with Richard Nixon. Beckel called it “one of the cheapest ads I’ve seen” and said to McConnell, “you ought to be ashamed of yourself!”
“To politicize this thing before you have the hearings,” Beckel went on, “and to go on the air with that kind ad, that’s a muckraking, disgraceful, disgusting ad, and it’s typical of a guy from the bourbon state.” To protestations from his co-hosts, Beckel said “in my worst day” he would never have put an ad like that on the air.

In any comparison between the Won and Nixon, Nixon comes out way better.
Beckel, Williams and Colmes have been having a rough time lately now that their DNC massas are all being exposed as crooks. I can understand their being upset. When it dawns on you that you’re nothing but a useful idiot, one tends to become upset.

Beckel is such a constant horses-ass he hardly deserves a thread for discussion on FreeRepublic.
Everything he says should just be ignored.

That’s right - how dare he denigrates Nixon by comparing him to Obama.

Interesting you should say that...to hold a state office in Kentucky, to this day, your oath of office includes swearing that you have “never fought a duel with deadly weapons.”
This is what Beckel does when he doesn’t have any other ammunition to shoot with. He goes on an emotional rant, and smears the subject of his attack about how unjust that person is for telling the truth. It’s a diversional trick of his that he uses often. When in doubt, use an emotional outburst, do it loudly to shout down any opposition to his comments, and be irrational about whatever the subject matter is. Divert attention from the contents of the AD by attacking its author.
The rest of The Five need to attack Beckel back, point out what he is doing and why, rather than try to defend the subject of Beckel’s smear. Show the public what Beckel is really doing, the sleight of hand, the method of refutation he is using, so that everyone knows what Beckel is really up to which is diverting attention from the contents of the AD into an attack on its author, and hoping that by sliming the author, he makes the AD itself unbelievable or one that shouldn’t even be watched. Because if it is watched without any emotional spin layered on it, the truth comes shining through to any rational person. Greg Gutfeld of The Five is the only one who seems to poke holes in what Beckel is up to. The others are either wishy washy, or just aren’t capable of using good debate skills.
